Mixing MDMA during the experience

➡️ Mixing MDMA with cannabis, psychedelics (such as LSD) or dissociatives (such as ketamine) can make the experience more intense and more difficult to control. People mixing stimulants and psychedelics may experience increased bodily sensations and increased heart rate, as well as increased feelings of nausea, anxiety and loss of control. Reduce feelings of anxiety by staying calm, controlling your breathing and telling someone how you are feeling.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with downers including opioids (such as heroin) or depressants (such as alcohol, GHB and benzodiazepines like Valium and Xanax) is dangerous. Depressant drugs depress your central nervous system which means they slow down your heart rate, response time and breathing. It is especially risky to mix MDMA with drugs that increase serotonin in the body, such as mental health medications. These can dull some of the expected effects of MDMA such as euphoria or 'rushing' but the physical effects such as increased heart rate and temperature will still occur.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with alcohol (or other downers) can mask the effects of each drug while increasing the risk - you will still be intoxicated but your perception of how drunk or high you are will change. If you are taking MDMA and can't avoid alcohol completely, try to limit yourself to only a few drinks, choose drinks with a lower alcohol content or drink water or soft drinks between alcoholic ones.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with Amphetamines is unsafe. Both Ecstasy and Amphetamine are stimulants. Using them together causes extra pressure/strain on the heart and increases the risk of experiencing other harms associated with each drug.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with benzos (Benzodiazepines) has an increased risk. Mixing any drug (including Ecstasy) with another (including Benzodiazepines) increases the risk of having a bad time. It’s also likely to increase any harms associated with each drug. Mixing any stimulant with a depressant makes it harder to judge the effect each drug is having. It might mean you take more of each drug than you meant to.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with balloons (Nitrous Oxide) has an increased risk. Mixing drugs increases the risk of having a bad time and is likely to increase any harms associated with each drug. It makes it harder to judge the effect each drug is having so it might mean you take more of each drug than you meant to.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with LSD (Blotters) has an increased risk. Mixing Ecstasy and LSD can increase the risk of anxious thoughts and feelings. Mixing any hallucinogen with a stimulant makes it harder to judge the effect each drug is having. It might mean you take more of each drug than you meant to.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with Cocaine is unsafe. Both Ecstasy and Cocaine are stimulants. Using them together causes extra pressure/strain on the heart and increases the risk of experiencing other harms associated with each drug.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with 2CB is unsafe. Both Ecstasy and 2C family are stimulants. Using them together causes extra pressure/strain on the heart and increases the risk of experiencing other harms associated with each drug.

➡️ Mixing MDMA with Xanax has an increased risk.

💧 H2O

It is important to stay hydrated – especially when taking MDMA and similar drugs. To keep hydrated aim to drink half a pint (284mL) of water or isotonic drink per hour. If you are in a hot, busy environment like a festival or club, or are dancing or exercising you will need more fluids, as MDMA leads to an increase in body temperature and this can make you sweat more. Even then you won't need more than a pint (568mL) per hour.

It is important to make sure that you don't drink too much water as this can be dangerous and lead to water intoxication. Symptoms of water intoxication include headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

Important supplements that may reduce negative effects after using

Highly bioavailable Magnesium
Supplementing Magnesium will give your body the substance it needs to naturally protect i's neurons from killing themselves due to excitotoxicity.

Vitamin C
A common antioxidant found in fresh fruit and juice, especially citric fruits. has shown to prevent MDMA neurotoxicity and liver toxicity in labtests.

Green Tea Extract (ECGC)
Green tea extract contains EGCG, an antioxidant which fights free radicals. Can also reduce the difficulty of urinating which some people experience while on MDMA.

Melatonin
Melatonin is produced naturally by your body in low light and helps regulate your sleep pattern.

DOSING GUIDE FOR SUPPLEMENTS

6-12 HOURS BEFORE dropping
  • Magnesium Glycinate or similar - 50mg

1 HOUR BEFORE dropping
  • Vitamin C - 100mg

ALONG WITH MDMA INGESTION
  • Water - 250ml

WHILST ROLLING
  • Vitamin C - 100mg
  • Green tea extract – 200mg

POST-ROLL
  • Melatonin – 5mg before bed (using larger doses for its antioxidant effect.)
  • Water - 250ml
  • Electrolytes - 250ml

3-7 DAYS FOLLOWING MDMA USE
  • Melatonin - Standard dose as described on disclaimer
  • Green Tea Extract – 200mg with 5-HTP before bed

There are a few more supplements you can choose to use while using MDMA, however the above list describes the essentials.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC)
NAC is involved in the synthesis of Glutathione by our bodies. Glutathione is the main antioxidant produced by the human body. Supplementing NAC will mean more Gultathione produced, which can protect us against oxidative stress and damage to the brain.

Na-R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (Na-R-ALA)
Na-R-ALA is a potent antioxidant that can fight off excess free radicals, helping prevent oxidative stress and neurotoxicity.

Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALCAR)
Another potent antioxidant that synergises with R-ALA, has shown to prevent MDMA neurotoxicity in rats. Can be purchased online or in health food/body building shops.

Grape Seed Extract (vitamin E and flavonoids)
Grape seed extract contains vitamin E and flavonoids. Vitamin E and flavonoids are potent antioxidants that will fight off excess free radicals and prevent oxidative stress.

5-HTP
DO NOT CONSUME 24 HOURS BEFORE OR AFTER MDMA INGESTION, AS MAY INCREASE CHANCES OF SERATONIN SYNDROME. Your body creates serotonin through a two-step process. First, the amino acid Tryptophan, which we get in our diets, is converted into 5-HTP. 5-HTP is then used by your body to make serotonin. MDMA use has can block the enzyme in the body that converts Tryptophan into 5-HTP. So, for a couple of weeks after use, a lot of the tryptophan you're consuming through your diet isn't turning into serotonin. Taking 5-HTP skips this first step and will help replenish your serotonin levels much more quickly.

Overview of usable supplements while using MDMA

The benefits of taking supplements with MDMA
Some supplements have been shown in research to reduce or prevent MDMA-induced neurotoxcity in rodent studies. Supplements may also reduce the risk you’ll lose MDMA’s effects over time (hypothetical). Additionally, anecdotal reports suggest supplements increase afterglow and reduce comedowns for some people

🛑 Microdosing

Research shows that microdosing MDMA might not be less harmful than a standard low dose (for first-time users). The thinking behind microdosing is that it allows you to experience potential benefits without unwanted side effects. In a recent study it was shown that participants were more likely to report headaches and fatigue than those who took full doses. Lower amounts of MDMA can be anxiogenic [anxiety-inducing].

There has not yet been an appropriate microdosing schedule for MDMA. When using MDMA and you do want to microdose be mindful of the dosages you want to use.

🚨 Recap - Main risks while using MDMA

1. Consuming a substance that is not MDMA. Many tablets and powders are fake and/or adulterated with other drugs.
2. Heat stroke and/or serotonin syndrome. Like all serotonergic drugs, MDMA increases heat stroke risk due to its effects on the hypothalamus, the part of our brain that helps us regulate body temperature.
3. Hyponatremia. Generally caused by drinking too much water. MDMA causes water retention.
4. Used too frequently, MDMA can temporarily exacerbate symptoms of depression in people who suffer from clinical depression (Sferios).
5. High and/or frequent doses of MDMA have been shown to be neurotoxic
6. Losing the magic. “Losing the magic” is when people who use MDMA find that over time, they get less and less of the special effects of MDMA.

MDMA, Molly or Ecstasy, if pure and taken in a positive environment with a positive mindset, can make users feel like the world is perfect, with extreme euphoria, greatly enhanced touch and bodily sensations, and enhanced empathy and enhanced ability to have deeper and more understanding conversations with other people. Just make sure you understand the risks involved, that you test your MDMA to know that what you’re taking actually is MDMA and that you always position yourself in a safe and friendly environment while using.

Stay safe.

This Harm Reduction guide is brought to you by Black Ops. We've been in touch and are both working on our own solutions for better Harm Reduction. We know that many (new) users turn to Dread before making their first order order or just as a launchpad to dnms or darknet as a whole. For this reason we chose to work together and get more involved in a broader aspect of supplying information in terms of Harm Reduction, from various sources and experiences, bringing them together in one definitive guide. Starting with one of the most used drugs: MDMA.
