Additional Archetyp Details : CafeDread | Torhoo darknet markets

Coming in from all over this is from BKA. Translated from German:

In an investigation by the Frankfurt am Main Public Prosecutor's Office - Central Office for Combating Internet Crime ( ZIT ) - and the Federal Criminal Police Office ( BKA ), a 30-year-old German citizen was arrested at his residence in Barcelona on June 11, 2025, by a special unit of the Spanish National Police. The man is accused of operating the illegal online marketplace "Archetyp Market," accessible exclusively via the darknet , as an administrator together with other moderators.

The "Archetyp Market" platform is one of the world's largest and longest-standing criminal trading platforms on the dark web , primarily used to sell drugs such as amphetamine, cannabis, fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. The platform's turnover is estimated at €250 million. At last count, the online marketplace had a total of approximately 17,000 sales offers, approximately 612,000 customer accounts, and approximately 3,200 vendors registered. Payments were made exclusively via the cryptocurrency Monero. The 30-year-old is suspected of gang-related illegal trafficking in not insignificant quantities of narcotics pursuant to Sections 29a and 30a of the Narcotics Act.

The suspect's apartment in Barcelona, as well as one property each in Hanover, the Minden-Lübbecke district, and Bucharest, were searched. Evidence, including eight mobile phones, four computers, 34 data storage devices, and assets totaling approximately €7.8 million, were seized. The Dutch National Police successfully seized and shut down the server infrastructure used to operate the criminal platform at a data center in the Netherlands.

The following security banner could be displayed:

In addition, further coordinated searches were conducted in Germany and Sweden, which, in separate investigations, particularly targeted the moderators and sellers on the platform. A further 20 properties were searched, including two properties in North Rhine-Westphalia, two properties in Lower Saxony, one property in Hesse, and one in Baden-Württemberg. Seven additional people were arrested in Sweden.

A total of 47 smartphones, 45 computers/notebooks, narcotics, and other assets were seized from all suspects. The comprehensive data seized is now being analyzed and provides further investigative leads.

We're going to have to wait for the actual indictments to come down and parse through hundreds of pages of PDFs to see exactly what happened. It'll take time we won't know for a few weeks until we can read those.

It's likely not a Tor vulnerability -- but a bad slip in opsec at some point. Combined with a few other things.

i read there was a compromised, trusted moderator with inside access. likely LE/snitch.

I also read the bust last month led to this bust somehow. make what you may from that but it appears someone last month knew how to get close to BigBoss/YGW and ended up singing like a canary

In the video by Europol, the letters "LE" above the name of Chocolate suggest that he is an informant who gave up the others.

I didn't read this but LE posted a video and around 1:06 something was mentioned about "LE Chocolate" a mod on Archetyp. Hug mentioned he could have had something to do with the seizure i believe, don't quote me on this and its just speculation but i don't think this had anything to do with OPSEC.

I think LE infiltrated Arche's core team, in some shape or form. Time will tell but right now my money is on LE Chocolate being involved in some way shape or form.

I think Hug updated his main post to include this info

Probably due to bad opesec, not sure to what extent the DDOs attacks have de-anomyzed the domain and what info got leaked.

Mistakes could be make even with the perfect opesec setup, Some things you did in the past which you might not recall of, could link your darkweb and real identity. Also we have no idea how long they were onto him, how long he was under surveillance and what slipups happened, we're humans after all and we all make mistakes. All good things must come to an end. Respect to him though.

Hosting the servers in europe itself is a bad idea, there's better county's which are not as cooperative with LE.

They have his PGP so they probably have full access to his machine. They probably got the servers after they arrested him but we will have to wait to see what they provide.

It does not help he used clearnet mirrors for the website so they can easily get the servers for those.

More of a thought then a prediction, but with yet another market down, do we think more vendors will switch to individual TOR pages to avoid these big ass LE sweeps?
/u/bi_tux

I don't really think so, since you have to be an absolute star vendor, at least I personally wouldn't leave a cent at that store elsewise, AND have the necessary admin skills and opsec knowledge, or at least pay so. who does.

what I see as more realistic, at leadt mid-term, is that we'll end up with some medium sized markets, that'll compete with each other and a ton of smaller markets, while the absolute star vendors might have their own shops the size of a smaller market while still being active on the medium sized markets

but no way to tell, since there are tons of irrational, human, factors, like the tendancy to put more trust in bigger organizations

i think you are right, i didnt think of the cost and logistics of basically maintaining a small market on your own, plus finding someone to set up and maintain this page if you dont have the skills.

and yeah, the human factor really plays a big part cause everyone thinks bigger is better. now with the king now gone, we got a game of thrones situation..

Many established vendors do direct deals.

I get about 6-7 products from the dark web. Of those, I have direct deals with about five of them. One of the vendors built up such a loyal base, they stopped using markets and only do direct and gain new business by word of mouth. They don't have to worry about markets going down, losing funds, escrow money, etc.

If course you can't start out this way. You have to start on the markets and offer a killer product and build a huge customer base.

The loss of Arch only hurts me for one vendor who I asked many times over the past two years if they would direct deal and they wouldn't and now I can't find them. In fact there's an entire thread on Dread here of dozens of people looking for this one specific vendor.

My message to him: YOUR LOSS BUDDY.
You mean like a private vendor shop?

yeah, sorry, wrong word choice in the post. it might ease the pains of sweeps like these but i could see a massive lack of qc or accountability that the markets provide.
