I healthy level of skepticism is called for but more towards newer third parties than at established vendors themselves. The vendors did nothing shady here.

I absolutely do not think the people that started the vendor accounts did anything shady. But, no matter how established a vendor's brand is, they could potentially let someone into the inner circle that they shouldn't have because they got too comfortable, ya know?

I was watching the accounts get deleted yesterday. I know bbPR was one of the accounts, along with addyinc and SuperWave. There was another I don't recall off the top of my head, and possibly more than that overall. Sad, really, to see something go so badly.

Holy shit! I'm so glad I didn't do that direct deal with you the other day because it could have been the scammer! Maybe that's why it took you so long to send the address after I asked for it weeks ago.

I was going to have you sign a message with your key that we did a dd anyway, that way I could report to /d/scamreports in case you did happen to scam me.

So the signed message would have been a dead giveaway it wasn't you and I would have been saved anyway by not ordering unless you signed with your known key.
