Apple ID : OpSec | Torhoo darknet markets

I have a question. I’m new to all of this I bought an iPhone with cash along with a SIM card. I know I need to create an Apple ID to download apps. Can I use "ProtonMail" email address for the Apple ID? Also, if I create the Apple ID from home, will Apple track or record the location where it was created.

if you are looking for real privacy you should get a Google pixel and install graphene OS on it. buy a VOIP service to get phone number and email (you can get one that you pay with crypto). get a prepaid simcard and put it in to a portable hostpot like the ones you can get on ebay so get internet. get a firewall app to dissable intertnet on all the apps you dont need internet connection. dissabble location services on all the apps. if you need to use maps get a offline maps app. and get a VPN always active (something like Mullvad). if you are really looking for security and privacy you can start there because there are sooo many things you can do to maintain your privacy.
If you want real privacy, you don't use a phone.

If you want real privacy, wait till you die someday.

Just saying...
From the /d/OpSec wiki. You should read it sometime.

If you choose to disregard our best advice, I'd suggest a search for

in preparation for your future incarceration.

VOIP services are almost always detected by large companies like Apple. For the prepaid sim card, you are still connecting to a cell tower constantly so even if you do all this over time your location is easily attributable. These are not bad recommendations but it does not help OP has not shared their actual thread model.

Thats why i mentioned a google pixel phone with graphene OS ans since you will be using the sim card on the hostpot only to provide internet to the phone there is no way than can triangulate any call or SMS because all of this will be passing from the phone to the hostpot device through the vpn you paid with monero and then to the VOIP service you also paid with monero. you minimize the risk a lot if you are been tracked.
Make sure you enable Advanced Data Protection/Encryption (ADP) which is off by default. This will end-to-end encrypt the entire device and even Apple wouldn't be able to see anything on the phone.

They have publicly stated their goal is to know nothing about what is on your device. The less they know, the better in their eyes so they aren't forced to play this game of forcing decryption on case by case basis. They log minimal de-anonymized data. This struggle is very, very public if you know where to look and follow the industry.

A modern, updated, iPhone with ADP enabled is probably the most secure device on the planet. Apple is currently at war with many governments around the world because they do not have a back door, will not put one in, and even the ADP feature was off by default at the request of the FBI as a compromise.

Note that you will not be able to reset your password, passcode, or recover your device any other way except for a printed recovery key only you possess. Turning it on means you're using the best secure mobile device on the market. It's new and not well known. In fact, I bet if you have an iPhone right now and look, you don't have it enabled.

People will argue but it's true. Even the Isreali tech companies and letter agencies can't get into these devices.

I may be wrong but didnt the pegasus virus used apple's backdoor to hack in to phones without the user doing anything? Or was that a backdoor which apple willingly gave and cannot be enabled unless apple consents to it.
Everything I see online says GrapheneOS is more secure than an iPhone.

Apparently, ADP has been removed in the UK.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-14421783/Urgent-warning-iPhone-users-Apple-REMOVES-highest-level-data-security-tool-UK-heres-means-you.html

Most of the comparisons I see are between an ADP enabled iPhone and a stock Android phone.
True. Good link too. :)

So here's the deal and of course, anyone is free to believe me or not:

1. I know multiple people at Apple including one higher level and a few engineers. Everything I know about them tells me they are authentic, they value privacy above almost anything, they do NOT sell customer data, and they truly can't get into our phones and resist attempts by the government to do so. They are actively engaged in throwing billions of dollars towards privacy and the latest technology and they want absolutely nothing to do with the contents of our device. Their north star or ultimate goal (which is not the case with anyone else) is to know nothing about the contents so they can never reveal anything if forced. They move towards this goal every single day.

2. I know ANY other OS that is Android based -- no matter what it is -- the letter agencies can easily root them and get into them no matter what is being sold or advertised.

I freely admit that I do not have the source code to Apple iOS nor can I inspect their hardware myself.

But I know those two points above to be true to me and so I pick my device based on the facts as I know them. Others are free to follow or choose otherwise.
iPhone + ADP is definitely the simplest solution to a secure phone.

I've looked into it further, and it seems that an iPhone with ADP enabled is as secure as rooting a standard Android phone.

If /u/DaVenom agrees, I'll add it to our OS Install Guide. Some of our subscribers will never bother to root a phone.
I also don't want to discount GrapheneOS. It's definitely secure for sure and I am not saying one is better than the other. If I were doing really bad stuff, I would probably have one under a burner account that couldn't be linked, yadda yadda yadda. But for my routine business and the things I trust in life when not running a DNM in my spare time or keeping nation state secrets, I really do trust Apple. That may change one day because nothing is forever, but with Tim Cook as CEO and their current model of privacy first, they're a lot more solid than people give them credit for...

Outside of GrapheneOS and the newest iPhones on the newest iOS, I wouldn't touch anything else. They're all a dumpster fire.
I'm learning as I go. You need an iPhone 8 or newer to run IOS 16.2, which is when Apple introduced ADP.

Am I right?
Yea, but I don't think the 8 has the secure enclave and hardware to really do it well. I believe roots from places like Elcomsoft (Google it) can get into anything up through X or 11 but I might be mistaken. You really need to upgrade to the latest hardware yearly or every two years in addition to keeping iOS always updated and patched.

edit: blog.elcomsoft.com -- they're an Israeli company that the letter agencies use to break into devices and they have a public blog about what they can do and what they can't. You just have to know where to look and who to follow *wink* -- for their software see: www.elcomsoft.com
Yes please add it to our guides, but as always with phones, warn that there is no 100% secured phones.

You should have looked at the 📖 OS & Comms ☏ wiki page on our banner before you bought a phone.

Protonmail isn't secure either.

To answer directly.

You can use protonmail with it. Creating an Apple ID I think requires a working phone number, as well as a legitimate payment method. Yes if you create the ID from home, they will log that information. They will log a lot of what you do because Apple does have some privacy features but is not meant to be anonymous. If you use a VPN, proxy, Tor, then your account won't be approved most likely. I am not familiar if this is still the case as I moved on to GrapheneOS a long time ago and you should too.
Protonmail isn't secure anymore. Iphones have never been secure.

This guy needs to do a lot of reading.

Phones and privacy don't mix. I don't know why anyone is recommending to use a phone for stuff. It seems stupid when you have tails, whonix, and full disk encrypted operating systems as alternatives. Apple and google do unknown things with your data, and they have complex privacy policies which have backdoor for police. All it takes is the location of the phone to be paired to a car or anything you have and you are screwed. Burner phones are good as one time use things. For long term use and the price, I think it would be stupid to use a phone. The only safe thing would be a way to get notifications that something is being sent over tor that is not related to your dark web identity but doesn't have identifying nformation that relates to a crime in it. outside of that, whonix is a much safer option. Any communication that isn't done over tor and encryption is stupid.
