This is basically a second job except of all the people that benefit you're not one of them at least financially. any donations and advertising revenue likely goes back into the website. The infrastructure to keep it all going is basically a volunteer organization when it comes down to it. I totally agree. It's a job, but in my opinion, a very necessary one. some shameless self promotion I created this post which is pending approval in this sub. post/b22c9ec3c7f8cdd1e4be not only does apply to users, but applies to moderators and administrators who take the time out to help because without everybody in this together it all falls apart.

That is very kind of you. We want Dread to be as neutral as possible so tips is something we don't individually accept. We would never want a staff member to be accused of accepting bribes, or showing favoritism for tips.

A few reasons. First is for bandwidth, and page loading speeds. Second is because a feature like this will end up being abused with people uploading CP and other fucked up images.

We had plans to allow premium users to select different avatars from a a small library of images. It was a feature that was in the testing phase when we did a large update for Dread. I don't remember the reason it didn't end up making the final update. /u/Paris or /u/Hugbunter might remember why we didn't end up using this.

It goes back to your first point and as such, the only place they would be displayed is on profile pages, rather than in threads etc, so it was a waste of resources. It might be worth revisiting in the future now we have room to play with DoS attacks, but I think it would need the long awaited redevelopment of the platform first so we have the option to pull things in easier without killing the database.

Ill be honest, i know why this captcha is such a pain in the dick to do, its for security of our 2nd amendment rights.
