Clearification on Global Rule 6 "No on-site trades/transactions of any sort" : Dread | Torhoo darknet markets
There has been a rise in the amount of questions, reports, and messages about the no trade/transaction rule. I think it would be a good time for me to clarify what counts as an "on-site trade/transaction" and put to rest a lot of the confusion.
The rule in the simplest terms is basically don't deal on dread. There are multiple reasons why we have this rule. Primarily it is because dread is a discussion platform not a marketplace. We don't have escrow, we don't can't help if you got scammed, and we can't say we know who is telling the truth or not. We allow discussion in a private way and we allow the information flow to happen so people can make the most informed decisions at the correct time.
Being that dread is first most a discussion platform it goes to reason that vendors are allowed to discuss things with potential customers on dread. Discussion about terms, products, shipping costs, all that is fine. Understanding the other side is important to make sure everyone is well informed.
As a vendor you are free (within reason and within the appropriate areas) to advertise your offerings. Do not spam or you will see none of your offerings will ever be seen (bot filters will be the end of you). If you intend to just use your account to spread your offerings and that's it, you will see you will not get the response you expect. To gain score you must be an active participant in the community. Score on dread isn't dependent on how much you post but by how others react and respond to your postings. All I can say is watch carefully how much you advertise and WHERE you advertise (/d/dnmads has less filters).
Directing people to PM them to discuss an offering is not a violation of rule 6. However accepting payment on dread is. If you send a bitcoin address on dread for a payment of a service (no matter what the service) that is a violation of rule 6. You can/will get banned and you can/will be named and shamed for it. Instead if you are a vendor you should direct the customer OFF SITE. Via jabber, vendor shop, or ideally one of the markets. Don't deal in our house and we won't have a problem, OK?
Now just because that is the rule for dread it doesn't mean subdread's can't have their own rules as well. I can't say this enough. Do not cry to the global mods if your post gets removed by a subdread mod because you broke their rules. I can say with 100% certainty that if the post is removed by a subdread mod there is not a single case of it ever coming back because we got cried to. Read the dread rules and then read the subdread rules. If you break the dread rules you can get fully banned from the site. If you break the subdread rules you can get banned by that single subdread. Big difference but still a ban is a ban.
If you get scammed because you direct dealed with a vendor know that if you message the global mods we won't do anything. It is not because we want people to be scammed but it is because we have no way to know if you are telling the truth. There has been cases where competing vendors report that their competition is doing on site transactions in hope that we ban them. It's hard if not impossible to know who is telling the truth. As such we don't do anything and instead tell people to deal over an escrow based market. Ya it's like 2-5% extra but it is so fucking worth it to be safe. Please people don't direct deal because you have no recourse if the other side takes your money and runs.
Don't think though being that we won't act if a report of scamming occurred that vendors can just open season everyone. I occasionally create new accounts and poke and see if vendors are open to doing the transaction on dread. Got a fucking few vendors which were stupid enough to think they wouldn't get caught. Don't be stupid and just follow the rules.
TLDR: Dread is a discussion platform first most. Discussion between vendors and potential customers are allowed. Vendor advertising is allowed. Transactions are not allowed on the site. All trades/transactions must be off site. Ideally on a market with escrow.
