As others said, the text on the tracking means it hasn't been scanned but also USPS should know where it is.

It might be sitting in a truck some place. It might be sitting in a bin at a distribution center, waiting to be sorted. I have seen packages sit like this for 3-4 days and ultimately be delivered, and it has never taken longer than two weeks in my experience. Typically less than that. They will continue sending the same tracking update around midnight until it gets an actual scan somewhere, so don't fret if the scan "updates" but it says the same shit

Most important thing is this. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you file missing mail requests or ask anyone at USPS about the package. Doing so compromises opsec, whether the pack is lost or not (someone will open it eventually).

yes you are correct - the "In transit" status update on tracking is not a scan. It is an automatic update that happens when a package has not had a physical scan in a period of time. I think its like 24 hours or so. And i noticed it'll come in at the exact same time on subsequent ones IF the package doesn't get a scan. Its nothing to worry about.

I'm surprised you've never had that happen. I've had that happen quite a bit with priority mail. Normal packs even. USPS is a cluster fuck and some regions are worse than others. more than likely your pack is sitting in some container or bin along with hundreds of others and hasn't moved in 24 hours. I usually see this with Priority Mail in the middle of the journey. Like it'll get scans just fine for a day or two. Then I might get 1-3 of the "in transit" scans (which isn't a real phsyical scan) depending. There are times when my package has sat for 3-4 days with no update. Then suddenly it arrives and moves. The "In transit" scan was added several years ago. I think USPS did it to try to calm nerves. People would see NO updates at all, panic, and then reach out to USPS complaining. The "In transit" was added so people would think the package is moving, lol. Its just a bullshit scan.

This is very common, especially in more recent times.

You'll get it. No way to know if it will pop up moving in a day or two, or if it'll suddenly appear in 10 days with the package battered to shit.

But, straight up not receiving it is an unlikely outcome.

I had the same instance last week. I ordered a pack from the West Coast and I could see that the label was printed and the USPS accepted the package the same day. Then it sat with no updates for 3-4 days. Finally about 5-6 days after I placed the order it was scanned in to my hometown. Mind you this was also 2 day express! It seems to be hit and miss sometimes the West Coast USPS hubs are on point and get stuff done RIGHT and then other times stuff like this happens. I wouldn't be too worried yet. Good luck mate. "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late" is indeed a "fake" tracking update that doesn't correspond to an actual scan. As you guessed, USPS will add this tracking update when the pack doesn't get scanned within a certain period of time (day or two).

We've sent thousands of packs over the past few years, in our experience even without any bad weather, holiday slowness, etc., USPS will mess up a single-digit % of packs:
* Bounced to wrong destination sorting hub - e.g. accidentally tossed in big bin going to NYC instead of Nashville
* Lost in a sorting hub for a few days (probably fell off a conveyor belt)
* Scanned as leaving a hub and in transit, then doesn't update for a while

Even if none of the above - or similar - have happened to you before, minor USPS messups / confusing tracking happen all the time. Nothing to worry about based on the info you've given so far.

It's fine. Normal delays like that happen and if your address is correct it'll get there with no problem, maybe a bit late for your taste.

Could be lost or misplaced. I'm sure itll still arrive
