Is KVM more secure than virtualbox? I have heard it is faster but that isnt a major concern of mine. If there is no difference security wise, i would rather just stick with virtualbox for now.
KVM is open source and VirtualBox is not. So we aren't ever 100% sure what's happening on the back end. That was the major reason I did want to switch.
Okay, so I was able to get this up and running. There's a few things that need to be updated.
If you download both the CLI and GUI (Which I do, I use the CLI Gateway with GUI workstation) the tar line provided will fail. Extract each file separately.
1. unpack tar -xvf would not work. I just used tar -xvf Whonix-Gateway-AMD64-blahblah.xz
2. Make sure Virtualbox is not running, or you will get an error on importing. Slight lesson learned there.
3. You'll need to install virtofsd to get files over to the VM. And then mount it (sudo mount virtofs mountpoint folder) in sysmaint. Then copy and do what you want with the files.
It's up and running though after about an hour or two. Let's see if it's more stable also!
