How is the winner selected? Just a random number on your end?
I think this lottery could be done a bit more fair. Maybe allowing people to buy the starting block hash at a certain height instead of just a kind of ticket.
Edit: just bought a ticket to try it out. And after 12 confirmations it still says unpaid. -_-
You can just choose your own ticket or generate an unlimited amount of tickets on the backend. If you required people to choose the first two or so letters in the block hash and then signed a message with a ticket number, payment address, winning address, and then the choice it would inspire more confidence. Giving the lottery to the person who picked closest to the real one. The person can prove their win via the signed message. There would be no conflict about the winner then because if someone else really won it they can provide a different signed message to prove they were in fact the winner.
You can then also prove payout by revealing both the transaction id and transaction key.
Great point. Didn't really consider after the fact. The transaction hash can be the validation of proof while also blocking off block start hash they selected. 30 blocks before the decision (1 hour) you can automate a post which includes all the transaction hashes and chosen block start. That way you wouldn't be able to cheat after the fact with a fake transaction. Makes it easy for people to verify who won too.
/u/Lottery you know /u/B34R does have a point. If you are giving out all of the money then whats in it for you? Are you paying for the infrastructure / other cost needed to host this site yourself? Do you plan to profit off this lottery in some way at some point in the future?
Hey there. I hate to be that guy, but do you have any reputable accounts here on Dread yourself? This could easily be the start of a well calculated Exit Scam somewhere down the road. If it was hosted by someone with a lot of history on Dread, I wouldn't be suspicious. :)
I wasn't going to assume you would exit scam with <500$. By "down the road" I meant after you have established trust and became a viral lottery game on Dread, if it happens.
You're a new account and have still yet to show any proof of your history here. You're also making no profit from this if 80% goes to players and 20% goes to dread. Sounds like a fishy business plan to me. :)
Agreed!
This will be my final post about this in this thread but if you really want to help out Dread make a donation on /page/donate/ or buy a premium membership from the /store/ where 100% of the proceeds go towards Dread. Remember when Dread was down and how much that sucked? Go buy a premium membership!
Also, what's with the free tickets? It does nothing for Dread and discourages legitimate entrants. Why would I pay $10 to possibly win $100 or whatever when my odds of winning keep dropping with every free ticket handed out and the pot stays the same.
The same question can be asked to any established market. So you're asking once it becomes trusted what is stopping me from scamming? Nothing. Like every single market and exchange running right now
There is nothing fishy about choosing not to profit from a site that's valued at $120. If the lottery gets bigger I will start profiting from it. I run this as a project not a business
I was in pms with one of your boys today, he made a lot of valid points and actually was receptive to some of my ideas by looking at ypur post so I would love to get a free ticket and I will buy a couple more. Im in it to WIN IT!
sEdit: Like paris I would love to know how the winner is chosen but like you're explaining it to a 5 year old , I would say 20 but these kids are crazy with this shit and it may still go over my head lol

Edit: it seems that it confirmed later on
After 10 confirmations it will show up. Check again or send me your ticket

Edit: thank you thank you /u/heavyweaponsguy /u/Pairs for the idea. The next games will be provably fair
