DBAN DOD issues : techsupport | Torhoo darknet markets

Learning tech as I go here, so excuse any incorrect terms.

I've downloaded (twice) DBAN's DOD onto my USB using Rufus 4.9. Followed AI instructions.

I can get the DBAN menu to prompt.

When I try to run the program, both times - I get this fault

cat: can't open ' /proc/cmdline' : No such file or directory

Please advise. Thanks in advance for your help and spending time with me on this.
You aren't doing this for a SSD, you are going to wipe a magnetic hard drive, right? Don't use DBAN for SSD's.

I don't trust AI for this shit lol

Download the Rufus USB Installer onto your USB flash drive: https://rufus.ie/
Click DBAN ISO for creating a bootable CD-R and choose Save. Save the file to your Desktop.
Run the Rufus application (double-click). If you see a message on your computer asking to allow the program to run, click Yes.
Rufus will find the USB flash drive. Under the Boot selection drop-down menu, choose Disk or ISO image (the default). Then click SELECT.
When the pop-up menu appears, choose the dban iso option. You can also choose to type “dban” in the Volume label field (so you can find it later in Windows Explorer).
Click Open.
Click START.
You will see a warning message telling you that all data will be destroyed on the USB flash drive. Click OK. Note: If you receive a message stating that the disk is in use, restart your computer and start the Rufus application again (step 5).
Once you create the Rufus DBAN bootable USB flash drive, click CLOSE to finish the process.
Follow the steps to wipe your data.

Wipe data from a computer using the DBAN CD-R, USB flash drive, or bootable floppy

Insert your new USB flash drive or CD into the appropriate drive of the machine containing the files you want to delete.
Restart the computer.
Type "autonuke" into the prompt to begin an automated procedure to wipe your entire drive.

I actually haven't removed the SSD's on this laptop, but I assume that's a smart choice anyways.

I seem to start with instructions, get to AI and end up here talking to you :) Thanks for all your help as always.

I've came up with the same error. cat: can't open '/proc/cmdline' : No such file or directory

Most AI points to BIOS settings. I've got Legacy Mode Enabled, my USB as first boot followed by Diskette Drive, M.2 SATA SSD, ROM Drive then Onboard Nic. Secure Boot is Disabled, and Enable Attempt Legacy Boot / Enable Legacy Option ROMs are both enabled.

Thoughts?
I still think you missed the first line in my post. "You aren't doing this for a SSD, you are going to wipe a magnetic hard drive, right? Don't use DBAN for SSD's."

Is this for a magnetic hard drive you are attempting to wipe?

My goodness, yes I missed that. My Dell uses M.2 SATA SSD's.
Use a different program. I like Sergei's bootable WinPE USB's. They have tools like Parted Magic and others to sanitize a SSD.

works properly?
What?

Do you think I would suggest something that "don't work"?
