Did Archetyp claim to use RAM memory for autoencrypt? : Archetyp | Torhoo darknet markets

Hi. We cannot know how Archetyp was run, however I want to know if the guy who ran Archetyp claimed to run the autoencrypt function on RAM?

I think I heard someone say that somewhere, but I would like to have confirmation.

According to the comment on this post, this was apparently the case /post/7f3d7a9c7b486f3152d6/#c-748327b9ef1623fdb5

Thank you mate :) So now the only question is then, did the LE people run the servers a few days after the bust or not? So did they grab everything going into RAM memory for a few days or what? If I have understood correctly RAM memory gets replaced the moment that memory is needed for something else, not only when you switch off the power from the computer. So Archetyp servers probably replaced their RAM many times a day or something right?

So did LE run the servers after the bust for a few days so they could grab all the info going into autoencrypt or were they taken down the moment they got access to them?

I cannot say either way because nobody has any clue how long LE had control. From the comment Bigboss made, I would be concerned more about the auto-encrypted text being found rather than the cleartext itself because he said that the text that gets auto-encrypted stays around until the order is deleted. To me, this means that at minimum, if you had finalized an order sometime between May 11th and June 11th, the cleartext itself might have been deleted, but the auto-encrypted text was not yet deleted and could be decrypted by law enforcement using the admin's key. I think orders on Archetyp were deleted 30 days after they were finalized. Keep in mind that this is just my best guess, no concrete proof of anything.

So the autoencrypt worked on the admins PGP key? :D

I mean doesn´t that kind of defeat the whole purpose of it. Like if he was gonna be busted wouldn´t they get his key somehow. I hope he had some other way. But then again I mean he would´ve had to use SOME key to encrypt those messages anyways right? Is there no way to encrypt a message using someone elses public key without using your own? If its not possible then the whole idea of "autoencrypt" is fully retarded.

Yes. If you know how PGP works, you need a private key in order to encrypt a message to somebody. If you use auto-encrypt, you were not doing this yourself using your own private key that only you have access to and you were instead relying on Archetyp to do it for you. This means Archetyp uses their private key to encrypt your cleartext using the vendors public key. There is no way to encrypt a message without a private key. This is why in his comment Bigboss also mentioned "you should encrypt yourself" because he is very aware it is a flawed system.
