In recent years, the adulteration of blotting papers allegedly containing LSD has been detected. Substances such as 25-i-NBOMe, BromoDragonfly... are much more dangerous psychedelics than LSD on an organic level.
Moreover, LSD is a very sensitive chemical compound, and can easily decompose under adverse conditions. Exposure to light, heat, humidity and air can also cause LSD to decompose and accelerate the degradation process. In 5-10 years most LSD blotters degrade.
Ideally, samples should be analysed in a Drug Checking Service. This is the best way to detect components, quantity and avoid adulterants. But this is not always available. Nevertheless, there is a simple way to detect the presence of LSD in a blotter (or liquid).
LSD fluoresces under UV light. A black light (UV-A light, Wood's lamp or ultraviolet light), is a lamp that emits long-wave ultraviolet light (UV-A) and very little visible light. It is the type of bulb used to produce fluorescent effects on clothing or paint (or in trance raves) and can be found in any lighting shop for a few dollars or euros.
Prepare a small sample of the substance you want to test. This can be a small piece of blotting paper or a small amount of liquid. The back of the LSD blotters (undecorated) is the most suitable.
Turn off the lights in the room and turn on the UV lamp. Make sure that the UV lamp emits light at a wavelength of about 365 nm.
Bring the sample close to the UV lamp and observe if it emits a bright bluish-white fluorescence. LSD normally emits a bright blue-white fluorescence under UV light.

The UV light method is only intended to be a further resource when no others are available.
Drug Checking services are an indispensable and appropriate tool, particularly within the Deep Web. All these initiatives are welcome and should be promoted.
