Dread is a fed honeypot and HeadJanitor is their top man : OpSec | Torhoo darknet markets

Listen to what he has to say in his public posts and don't treat him or anyone else any different than you would someone you actually suspect is law enforcement. The advice given on this forum is solid and trustworthy. Don't trust it, though, UNDERSTAND it. KNOW it. Verify with alternative sources. Use the wonderful OpSec posts here as a jumping-off point. The information is good. The presentation is good. He also doesn't post about doing anything illegal. Sounds like a great cover to me. Listen, don't tell if it's not need-to-know - even if you think the person is totally trustworthy. Sorry for picking on you, https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDNVdlNHVmhaRXBoYm1sMGIzST0=# but somehow I think you'll understand exactly what I'm saying here. It's not actually about you, it's about staying safe.

To clarify: I have no idea who HeadJanitor is. It also doesn't matter, he gives great advice. Use it, live by it, verify it and understand it. Don't talk about yourself or any information that isn't relevant to the person you're talking to, ever. All the OpSec in the world doesn't matter if the guy on the other side is your adversary and you're telling him your hobbies, where you're from, your dog's name, etc. What's more, EVERYONE could be your adversary. That little bit of information you give to each person builds a profile. You've probably got an identical one on your social media. OSINT.....you should see what the law can do these days, often for free, without even getting a warrant.

I understand exactly what you are conveying. Kudos to you. Great insight. The real simple take away here, is to assume everyone and everything is compromised.

Don't let that scare you off, either. Which is exactly my point. HeadJanitor gives incredible, reputable, immediately useful advice. If you make it part of your process, it doesn't really matter if you're talking to your adversary on the other side or not. However, that also means not making your adversary even more interested in you. OpSec, stay on topic, and it's even possible that both parties come out ahead in some circumstances. Stay valuable, stay safe, if you feel the need to socialize make up a story and have fun with it.

No worries, as a psychologist, you are preaching to the choir. I was validating your position. It has been my main message and contribution here.

It gives me pleasure to see a rare mind like yours who can think bigger than the average Joe and have an understating of how psychology plays a "major" role in this game.

I mentioned it in another response to another thread just a few minutes ago.. "Don't do fraud for necessity. You'll get caught." Or you'll get scammed, or someone will use you in some other way. "The Psychology of Black Hat" would certainly be an interesting series of threads I'd be delighted to take part in if you really are a psychologist. You should think about it.

By its very nature it surely would be. I was asking more from the objective aspect. How would it work exactly. What does it look like in your mind.
Or, create an immensely solid foundation so you can walk freely neither have to trust or distrust because you have a primary focus and you stay in your own lane, keeping your objective number one. We can't live in a compromised world and we can't live in phobia so we solidify our framework; the things we do have full control over.

You are speaking of an objective mind which thinks with reason. While the subjective mind thinks with emotions. There is is no disputing that. We are all at different levels of consciousness and thus understanding. And that dictates, governs and directs how we perceive our world and thus our behavior.

For a person who thinks with emotions, which is humanity in general, thinking a certain way, as in this example of assuming everything is compromised will actually be of a benefit to them as it will motivate them to be on their toes regarding OPSEC.

Similarly, you can be objective without any subjective concerns because you think with reason and have and understanding of the actual situation and naturally will also take the essential precautions to safeguard yourself without the emotional baggage.
So very well-written. Down here, in the darknet, we must remain collected. We cannot let our fears get to us. A clear-mind--I dare say, a sober mind--will prevent us from entanglements we should never have got caught in.

OpSec teaches us and I try to emphasize the perspective of continually looking not at others but at yourself from the outside--without judgment--but with safety and concern in mind. What would those actions look like, when taken?

Once we resurface, we can breathe a bit easier, but even down here we still have no remain human. It's just that early on we need to reinforce good habits. Build that strong foundation of understanding why we do the things we ought to do, why we go by a certain set of standards. If we just rush in thinking it's a playground we'll destined for failure. When we realize we have things to learn before we can engage, it's then that we're investing in our safety. And, in the meantime, we can enjoy the experience. It doesn't have to be frightening or terrifying. The more work we put in in building margins for error, lines not to cross, the more time we can actually spend looking around and participating too.

I am in agreement with your reply in general. But more intrigued by the following paragraph:

"OpSec teaches us and I try to emphasize the perspective of continually looking not at others but at yourself from the outside--without judgment-"

That is what you call the practice of" Self-observation". This act alone is responsible for the growth of conciseness and understanding. It gives you self-awareness. That is such a key component for a real fundamental holistic growth that is at the root of, not just in the psychology field, but all real esoteric spiritual teachings as well.
And that's exactly why I bring an axiom of dimensions to OpSec. Because in order to be safe you can't look at yourself with your own self but you can perceive how the world is viewing you in your behaviors by the representation of yourself in the world as you are. (Behaviors usually being mistakes that one didn't think of at the time.) "Whereas I thought I was merely wearing nylon gloves, I didn't stop to realize how bizarre it would appear to others standing there in line at the post office with me."

"Whereas I thought I was merely wearing nylon gloves, I didn't stop to realize how bizarre it would appear to others standing there in line at the post office with me."

LOL. Now that is what is called “self-consideration”, which is negative trait if one is to work on themselves. What you need to do is to “consider” others and look at yourself from their perspective and that will benefit you accordingly.

The ego by its nature feels threatened and gets in the way to prevent you from considering others before itself because it does not want you to know that, ultimately, it would be to your own benefit. Most wont do it because they are at at a certain level and they can’t see or understand beyond their current conditions and thus no interest.

Yea, that's actually a pretty good point.
You should think about me in whatever way it's going to take to think of ways that will keep YOU safe and secure. Then I've done my job. My job is to manipulate you long enough to put your cell phone away and take this seriously. Unfortunately, it comes with no bonuses.

My point is that we should treat everyone like that, I just used you as an example because the thought did go through my mind: This would be an excellent trap. Also, it doesn't matter if you follow and actually understand the reasons behind the advice you so generously share with us constantly. I think you're a pretty cool guy, actually :)
Then my tactics are working. :) You'll be safe and I'll be happy knowing it.

Spot on response on that post. I also just put a small correction on my original post as to the true intent of my message. Basically: live, eat, breathe, sleep OpSec. Don't fuck it up for a friendly face that gives invaluable information.
Exactly. Security above all else. At the end of the day we all want peace of mind when we hit the pillow. Take the best from everyone, do learn boundaries and inevitably you'll have lines you'll never cross.

Well, no. It just so happens that I just took the name. You really should never be too sure, though. He and I do speak in a similar fashion at times. This is where it ends, however, as I am now going to tell HumanPie that he smells like fart.

/u/HumanPie you smell like a fart. A gross one. The type of fart that warms up the whole of your buttocks and you say, "Wow, I can count on one hand the times that I haven't liked - no, been enamored with - my own flatulence. Everyone likes their own brand? This is a perversion of my gastronomical trademark.TrulyNastyFarts++ and it hasn't even reached me yet.." That's what you smell like, sir. Also, cannibalism isn't cool, even perfectly baked in a deliciously flaky pastry shell.
Yikes. It was meant as a joke. I didn't mean to stir the pot.

“Others are the enemy, waiting to rush in, strip you of your already-questionable safety and security, expose your precious vulnerabilities, and ultimately devour you with sadistic delight. For protection, wall yourself in to keep others out. Never let your guard down, watch vigilantly for any sign of impending onslaught. Nothing must escape your scrutiny”.
I think that for most of us the basic capacity for trust has been destroyed. And it’s getting worse. In the end we all end up paranoids.
