i been struggling for hours now trying to figure out how to connect my wallet to the network

says to find a remote node online but then i read thats not a good idea cause law enforcement could spy or control my wallet

can anyone give me some suggestions on what i should do or how i do it?

Run your own node if you're really paranoid.
However, getting an onion node is generally fine.

One thing you can do to find nodes is to run Feather wallet and pull nodes out of there. Worked for me.
