First timer, I'd like to ask a few vocab-related questions : Monero | Torhoo darknet markets

Hey, I've just read the section of XML on the DNM Bible, I've installed Feather and it's pretty straightforward how to recive or send money but what does "route my coins" mean?

Also what are public/private remote/full nodes?

I'm using Tails but are there any more secutiry measure I need to take? I heard the names Morphscript / MorphToken on the Bible but not quite sure if they're for secutiry or something else?

It's actually my first time using Crypto so if it's okay I'd like to please ask what's flat-gateway, trading pairs and KYC

If I understood correctly, I need to buy Bitcoin/Monero on my own and send it to my Feather's wallet, right?
Now, how do I buy Monero, for example with Haveno, don't I need to like put my bank details for it? If so, how can I trust its safety?

Much thanks in advance!

Remote node refers to a Monero node that is operated by a third party. Using a remote node can introduce additional security and privacy risks in comparison to running a local node. From this point of view using a local node is recommended. For running a local node you have to download the Monero blockchain (as of 2024 the full blockchain is around ~225GB. The pruned blockchain is around ~86GB).

Official Monero FAQ: http://monerotoruzizulg5ttgat2emf4d6fbmiea25detrmmy7erypseyteyd.onion/get-started/faq/index.html

You can setup a local node and connect to it remotely. If you don't expose it allowing other users on the Monero network to connect this can be referred to as a 'private' remote node. In the other case it can be referred to as a 'public' node.

Regarding ways to obtain Monero this post might help you: /post/e2456500b94c35e5e9c2
The way you choose depends on your individual threat model and assessment. In Haveno you have different options to buy Monero without putting bank details for it e.g., cash by mail or by exchanging with Bitcoin.

Trading pairs are the value of one currency vs another. Example: XMR/BTC, XMR/LTC, XMR/ETH

Fiat = traditional money. Example: USD, EUR, CAD

KYC = Know Your Customer. An exchange or business identifying who you are basically. Usually done by asking you to send a photo of your ID and/or do a face scan. Most major exchanges require KYC. Good idea to avoid them if possible.

Retoswap(the most popular and pretty much only instance of Haveno right now) and Bisq are some good private ways to get your hands on Monero without KYC. They're also known as DEXs (Decentralized exchanges).

It depends what payment method you're using. The benefit of using a payment app or bank transfer with a DEX is that no one besides you and your trading partner (and perhaps arbitrator if there is a dispute) know that you're sending/receiving money for crypto. All the bank knows is you're sending/receiving money. Could be for anything.

Compare that with a centralized exchange where it would be obvious that you were buying/selling crypto to the exchange and the bank (and government).

But the most private way to trade of course would be doing cash-by-mail or meet up and do a cash trade in person. Both Retoswap and Bisq have those payment methods available.

What is XML? Do you mean XMR? That would be the Monero token. And Feather is a fine wallet for XMR. You can buy it on a number of different sites. Up to you about avoiding kyc (p2p, or cash by mail). Each wallet has a number of addesses to use for each sender. Start small, nothing you would miss, just to get a feel for it. Remeber not to send anything to a market that can lead directly back to you. Keep a clean wallet, just in case.
