Getting XMR in a post-localmonero world : Monero | Torhoo darknet markets

I just got back on Tor after taking several months off. I previously used localmonero to buy xmr from a trader using Cash App and had it sent to my Feather wallet running on Tails on USB. I was ok with the KYC requirement for Cash App since my bank (and Cash App) don't know what I'm buying. I'm a buyer only and typically will buy $100-300 worth of monero at a time and usually only a couple times a month for 6-7 months out of the year. Based on my risk profile I was good with localmonero and cash app to get xmr.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get xmr now that localmonero is shut down. I'm looking at going the DEX route using Bisq or Haveno-reto and I have some questions. Thanks for any assistance.

- Is Bisq geared towards buying btc that i would then need to swap for xmr?
- Is Haveno geared towards buying xmr so i wouldn't need to deal with swapping?
- Do either or both of these support buying btc or xmr using Cash App or another form of fiat, e.g. Zelle? Are there traders on these platforms accepting these type of fiat payments?
- Any issues with running either of these locally on Tails

Thanks. Is there a specific reason LTC is better than BTC in this use case?

You do have choice

Lets say you buy from haveno via bank transfer. There is a chance, the person your sending to is collecting information on everyone who is buying xmr which can possibly come back to bite you later.

If you buy bitcoin from bisq however, then the bitcoin is easy to explain away, you can even transfer it to another wallet and say that you exchanged it for services or something. If you then use this bitcoin on haveno to exchange into xmr, this will distance you from the initial purchase making your moves more anonymous. They both run on Tails, haveno-reto seems stable and fine to use. Im still reviewing it, as im more focused on f2f exchanger, and not many are listed. You can use lots of different types of payment on there. I dont use cashapp or zelle so im not sure, i might of seen them i cant remember.

Yea im in the same boat as you my boy.

Personally it was a hassle trying to get haveno running on my tails so I gave up in the end. YMMV.
Bisq had some trade minimums which were not feasible for me but might be fine for you.

Instead I went for Bitvalve fiat -> btc and then used trocador to swap to xmr.

I hope a localmonero alternative that was as easy and as populated as it was pops up soon...

There are unlimited ways how to buy monero anon!

All you need is it buy with cash any crypto, then swap for monero...
you can use also BTC ATM or any other ATM for crypto instant buying and then swap your coin on a DEX for XMR

Stay safe

Thanks. I thought that BTC ATMs required ID for KYC purposes. Is that not the case?

It is from provider to provider!
You must understand that diffrent private company run''s them!
Some will ask, for kyc, some not! Depending also on amounts!
But there are a lot of ATM without KYC for amounts from 250-1k!
Do unlimited amounts, and you are good to go!

i buy btc right in the cash app itself then i send btc to cake btc wallet . create a cake xmr wallet. then in cake btc wallet' convert to xmr and have it go into your cake xmr wallet. i then send to another cake xmr wallet using it. its easy and cake wallet is no registration.

Thanks. I didn't realize I could buy BTC from the app :-). Are all these Cake wallets running from the same device? Do you run them on a mobile device or Windows or Mac PC or are you running it on a virtual OS on TOR, e.g. Tails?
