nevermind, found this in OpSec forum, its for the most paranoid of threat models
Why Avoid F-Droid?
While F-Droid is a popular repository for open-source Android applications, there are some reasons why privacy-focused users might choose to avoid it:
Metadata & Tracking Risks – By default, F-Droid does not anonymize metadata when downloading apps, which could expose user behaviour to network observers.
Signature Spoofing Concerns – Some apps rely on modified builds that may introduce security vulnerabilities.
Outdated Packages – F-Droid can lag behind official repositories, leading to delayed security patches.
No Official Verification – Unlike some other platforms, F-Droid lacks an automated verification process like reproducible builds for all applications.
EDS Lite for saving files. Create the veracrypt folder on an airgapped device.
Yubikey or Nitrokey for OpenKeychain and Keypass, and use PGP over all communications.
Hello! I was wondering what the issue was with EDS lite? I've tried out EDS lite, EDS, new EDS (the new one seems like a OPSec nightmare lol). The older regular EDS seemed a little better but it comes from cracked free version but I use Netguard firewall to make sure theres no in/out traffic from it. This is just experiments I've done on my regular stock android phone in the past that I don't use for anything important.
In terms of anonymity, why is session preferred and for example Briar which is advertised for journalists, censorship resistant with built-in Tor and FOSS also with anonymous account creation not mentioned?
Since we're using Orbot another tor circuit isnt needed, I suppose if you know what your doing then it would mostly be personal preference, I was gonna include a xmpp + omemo mobile clinet, but I'm still looking into it, 'Monocles' looks like the best one for this setup
This guides great! I got a used pixel 7 (panther) recently to try out this guide but they sent me one where the "oem unlock" option is greyed out in developer mode. I tried fastboot to send the command but it said not allowed. It seems like it's carrier unlocked but I can't get the option open. I'm going to try a guide that said "Put a old dead sim card in, factory reset it" and see if that works, if it doesn't I'll try to get a refund then get another model.
You can try connecting to a network so it can update, but if you followed the steps correctly by tapping the build number option until developer mode is enabled then its likely carrier locked
Enable developer options by going to Settings -> About this phone -> tap the build number option until developer mode is enabled.
Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Toggle OEM unlocking
You're a smart guy, how do you feel about the app pulse.. If redirects normal phone calls through different providers like signal. Take a look at it and let me know what you think /u/b1ankface
Just found this post, is great. There is actual research on how both iOS and Android share everything you do with the developers. I share the research here /post/8e94765192aa3f1544e9.
