Guidance setting up burner laptop os : techsupport | Torhoo darknet markets

Sooo as the title says im threat level criminal, Pretty high up . I got a burner laptop and first step is set up os. Whats best way for me to do this and leeave no trace . I bouugh ttit tin song seecond hand shop with cash . Its currently apart gonna put it back together but how do i install os ? like if i get a usb and get the os from main pc does it leave a trace ? If anyone would be so kind to help me could you please explain in detail as its my first time setting up burner laptop and tight opsec is a must for me , and anything that requires wifi do i just do it on home wifi ?
Technically that would be a trace, but how many other people have downloaded that OS as well? If you want to be paranoia, use a VPN like Mullivad that you paid with Monero to download the OS. But that's super paranoid.

" and anything that requires wifi do i just do it on home wifi ? " you shouldn't do anything on your home wifi at your threat level.

What OS are you thinking?

my burner laptop is old, so ubuntu is probuably best option, I would prefer qubes os but eh gotta work with whats effective
Qubes is overkill and way too slow. Have you looked into /d/whonix ? It's a solid medium.

Ok thank you this is a great idea, i really appreciate the help my opsec will look like :

1 Your OS ubuntu -> 2 VMWare -> 3 whonix ->4 VPN+ 5Tor -> 6 RDP Server -> Socks5 Proxy (victims location)

this looks good to you, thank you for the information, The next part i gotta figure out is what wifi/where to set this up (whats easy im sure this has been awnsered hundreds of times in opsec) n i can get to work :p gonna be swimming the in money mannnnnnn
I think there's an overkill step here.
2. Runs Virtualbox or KVM (KVM recommended) Not VMWare

But yes, you get the idea.

generally, you shouldn't use a vpn with tor.
