How do I hide myself? : privacy | Torhoo darknet markets

I am learning cybersecurity and I feel that learning how to be invisible is mandatory. On youtube there are no usefull informations and I heard that using popular vpns is not ok because you can get tracked. And the courses I bought doesn't cover this topic. The surface web lacks details and I hope to find here useful informations. Thank you! I know about tails and proxies but not how to set them or any details about them. I use kali on a VM

Hide my IP better, change my MAC address. You can't be 100% anonymous but to add some layers of protection. SOmetimes when I ask chat gpt for random things he says my location without menioning or things like that and I don't like it. I am not a bad guy I want to be as ethical as possible but yeah. Sometimes to find answers you must look in dark places and I know nothing about protection.

Yeah but what are you trying to hide?
If you are just learning cybersecurity and don't want anyone to know tor would be enough

Use TOR, secure messengers (TELEGRAM IS *NOT* SECURE) like Session, Briar, etc. At all costs, force people or your friends to go to these messengers. Install Linux (Linux Mint or Zorin OS is better for the beginning, Shitdows is completely packed with telemetry), after that enable secure boot in your UEFI settings (UEFI is BIOS but much better. I'll make people distinguish between them).
If you have a phone, throw it in the trash or buy a Kraken phone.
Often use VPN or ENCRYPTED proxy and follow the basic rules on the Internet: don't download shit from suspicious and untrusted sites, strangers, and all that.

Note: PHONE *IS* A PURE SPY (besides Kraken)

P.S.: Sorry, my English is kinda sucks

Install different OS systems:
PC/Laptop = Linux/Tails/Qubes OS
  • Qubes OS is very advanced and you have to learn alot to use it
  • Tails on the other hand is very easy to use and has great security features and all apps needed for "good" security are pre installed just boot it over an USB

Phones = Google Pixel + Graphene OS
  • One of the most secure OS for phones it's also open source, free and disables all google apps/tracking. In my opinion great phone with reasonable good security and very easy to use.

These are just basics.
  • For more advanced security use:
  • For chats = Pidgin(Jabber)/PGP encryption
  • Inform yourself on PGP encryption and encrypt all messages that you write doesn't matter where
  • Jabber is a great secure chatting option use only OTR encryption which doesn't save logs and all chats in private chats are encrypted. OMEMO encryption is a newer version of encryption which doesn't work with every Jabber client but it's end to end encryption.
  • Pidgin = OTR
  • Dino = OMEMO

Tor usage:
  • Use Tor only on the SAFEST mode and always have JS disabled to prevent leaks
  • There is also an option on configering Tor even safer there is already an amazing post to it:

WIFI-connection:
  • Use ethernet connection only and don't rely on your built in wifi card it CAN save logs.
  • Best would be to disconnect your wifi card and get an adaptar for example.

Normal sense:
  • NEVER and I mean NEVER connect your darknet stuff with your personal accounts, if you do it once it's already over.

Files:
  • Also always encrypt your files with "Vera-Crypt" or PGP encryption also

Passwords:
  • To save passwords I would recommend one app "KeePassX" or "KeePassXC"
  • If you use them save your password folder on an extra USB-Stick which is also encrypted and the KeePassX or XC account has an long an good password, it can protect you from anyone trying to steal them.

If you would have any more questions please message me or reply on my comment!

Yours,
