[JOB - XMR] Looking for someone to start a forum : Jobs4Crypto | Torhoo darknet markets

Hey,
I'm looking for someone to develop and run a forum, I do not want to be involved but I will finance it.

All the time people bitch about Dread, yet none of them ever starts their own forum, they come here to bitch but do not take an initiative, this must stop now. I feel that a healthy alternative would be nice.

Requirements
- Just don't be required to wear a helmet while indoors
- Be able to develop it yourself in whatever language you like
- Be able to host it if you get it financed
- Have a clear idea that you can communicate well
- Tell me why your forum would be better than Dread or a good alternative
- Tell me why you are the right person to do
- Tell me the structure of your forum (dread / reddit style, or chan style or classic forum style or something else?)
- What rules do you want to enforce for your forum?

You can reply to this post and if you want encrypt it with my Key

this forum already kinda exists. built from scratch and released just 2 weeks ago

- Built with Tor Browser in mind, of course
- semi-Reddit, semi-classic forum style
- Everyone can upload media
- A safe, view-only clearnet mirror for much easier accessibility. by safe, I mean it's designed to be impossible to tracked back to the onion server. Some posts are automatically censored on clearnet forum
- No strict rules on discussions

/post/e004f26a59f64e1ae4f6

Yes, it was developed and is being hosted by a market but I wouldn't mind separating it from a market and put someone independent in charge. We also allow the discussions of all platforms/markets

I do bitch about dread, and I DID take an initiative

The forum is implemented within the core of Archetyp it would take a shit load of time to remove all thing related to the market. That's just my perspective.

I think the darknet community needs another site similar to "deepdotweb" on clearweb, a website with all markets' links and tutorials and news and even a forum. it should be on clearweb, because still a large portion of traffic to darkweb is coming from clearweb, that's a fact.
/u/[deleted]

And this large portion is getting phishing links instead of the real shit.
/u/jackroberts

Exactly, that's why Feds shut them down, deepdotweb was the real gateway to darkweb. it was a feature rich website with almost everything required for the average Darknet user to learn.

My 2 cents: Abacus guys had a Forum, Archetyp has a forum, but what makes it work it´s not the software, it´s the (lack of) activity that kills it or makes it thrive, it´s more about having a bunch of really active admin / mods engaging the forum audience and posting topics, keeping it interesting, what makes the difference. Best of lucks.

A Forum That Outlives Its Creators — Dread’s True Successor

You’re not just funding a website — you’re investing in infrastructure. What I’m offering isn’t a clone of Dread, and it isn’t some vague idea. It’s a hardened, purpose-built forum designed from the ground up with privacy, resilience, and real user control at its core.

Most “alternatives” fail because they copy Dread’s look without understanding its structural weaknesses: centralization, opaque moderation, weak user identity, and poor resilience. I’ve spent years working on secure, censorship-resistant systems. What I’m building is the kind of platform that can withstand the same pressures that took others down — and keep going.

Moderation here is decentralized and accountable. No mod cliques, no power trips. All moderator actions are cryptographically signed and transparently published. Users can challenge decisions, and if necessary, overturn them through community voting. Moderators are elected anonymously — their authority comes from provable consensus, not favoritism.

Identity is key-based. No usernames. No passwords. No emails. You connect via Tor, sign requests with your key, and optionally link a PGP fingerprint for long-term reputation. DMs? End-to-end encrypted and metadata-free by default.

The UI balances familiarity with flexibility. Think Reddit-style flows but cleaner, faster, and customizable. Boards are modular: you want something looser and faster, like a chan? Do it. Prefer more structure? That’s supported too. The UX is responsive, mobile-ready, and Tor-optimized.

No tokens. No coins. No artificial hype. Influence comes from contribution. Proposals, feedback, moderation participation — all of it earns you a stake in how the forum evolves. Reputation and karma aren’t for sale, they’re built.

Infrastructure matters. The forum is Tor-native with a read-only clearnet mirror that strips metadata and masks origin. Hosting is distributed-friendly: easy to mirror, replicate, and self-host. You can write posts offline, sync later, even fork a board and run your own version.

I’ve already mapped out the deployment architecture, moderation model, and trust framework. I know how this breaks — and more importantly, how to make sure it doesn’t.

If you want something real — not just another forum but an actual alternative — I’m the person who can build it, maintain it, and scale it. Let’s cut through the noise. Let’s give users what they deserve.

Regards, cipherstream.

Honestly, I don’t understand why some people still think using tools like ChatGPT is something to make fun of. When someone uses a tool to write more clearly or express their thoughts better, it shows they’re being smart, not lazy.

There’s a big difference between someone who takes the time to communicate their ideas well and someone who just looks for reasons to mock others. The ideas I share come from me. The structure, the message, the perspective that’s all mine. I just used a tool to help polish the wording, the same way people use spellcheckers, grammar tools, or even ask a friend for feedback.

Instead of spending so much energy trying to figure out who used what tool, maybe we should focus more on what’s actually being said. That way, we might get closer to building the kind of thoughtful, respectful communities we keep saying we want.

I will build this forum, and when the time comes, everyone will see.

ChatGPT is a great way to assist the programmer, just as a spell checker assists the writer. But ChatGPT is not free and its subscription is expensive.

Hello :) I see little point in encrypting this so I'll send it as is.

I've once developed a forum from scratch which looked like a 2000's style forum, a hybrid of what 4chan and Reddit would've looked like. It contained the basic functionalities of what a forum should have minus the JavaScript but was incomparable to the modern day standards of what a forum should be. It wasn't planned to outperform Dread or any other forum out there, but was more so something complimentary to my project. This was back in 2023 and took a couple months to create.

The project was essentially a mental-health forum named "MSHForum" some concept of this can be found on one of my posts /post/5446eb8bc62719fd1ad2 along with the dedicated sub-dread /d/MSHForum. I still have strong desire to pursue this.

The code has been long lost after some issue I faced with the VPS (the owner of the server got arrested), and later lost all motivation to recreate it. In 2024 I happened to find myself recreating the forum with XenForo, spending months converting the JavaScript into PHP, or otherwise removing it entirely. This time the owner of the server (Kaizkushi) simply disappeared bringing down the VPS along with the code. This completely blew out my candle of motivation.

Coding hasn't been my expertise, rather a hobby I've developed well.
I've been coding for 3 years, whereby SQL has been my most used.
I've ordered it based on how confident I am with a language.

- SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Python3
- PHP
- Learning GoLang & Lua at the moment.

I've got a trusted partner who can code HTML and CSS. As HTML/CSS is not something I'm not good at.

The forum wouldn't be like Dread, Reddit or 4chan. The forum I have in mind would lack the ability of other users creating sub-boards, much like what XenForo, SMF (Simple Machine Forum) or MyBB is like. The admin/moderators would only be able to create sub-boards. I am capable of hosting the forum on a website, both on the clearnet and hidden service (onion/i2p).

The rules would be simple, mainly what has already been said on the Dread site-rules. I would additionally emphasize that there would be effort to remove any posts that have bad OPSEC like talking about something too personally identifiable. The moderators are going to be myself and three of my trusted friends, all having experience in moderating on sub-dreads before.

My goal with the forum is to ultimately make it open-source, available for them to self-host their own forum. I believe people need a forum that is made from someone who opposes JavaScript instead of removing it from existing open-source forums which ultimately breaks some features. I would also create a step-to-step guide on how to use the forum and self-host the forum.

I couldn't agree more with what /u/cilantr0 has said, many markets have created their own forum but lacked the ability to gain traction to them. With my own project MSHForum I've understood how to advertise it to others, with some finance I could really attract many more people. The open-source concept wouldn't be difficult to advertise as it's free. Furthermore, I've got vendors and other site-admins who would support me through advertisement.

I may not the best person you can choose if you want somebody to outperform Dread and release something jaw-dropping with tons of features and design. Though I can guarantee I would be one of the better people if you want something that everybody can benefit from, starting with my individual project whereby MSHForum would benefit those with mental-health problems, and open-sourcing the forum which would benefit those who'd want to host their own forum.

I’m a full-stack dev with 5+ years in Python/Django, experienced in Tor-hosted projects with strong OPSEC.
Why me? Built secure, scalable platforms; I’ll deliver a fast, user-driven forum.

Why my forum? Dread-style but lighter, faster, with E2EE DMs and decentralized moderation.

Structure: Dread/Reddit hybrid, dark-themed, Tor-optimized UI, scalable for mobile.

Rules: No doxxing, no illegal content, respectful posts, optional PGP, transparent moderation.

Tech/Hosting: Python/Django, VPS with Tor, DDoS protection, XMR-funded.

Details to be provided should I meet your criteria

How would you implement E2EE messaging?
/u/Tripod
0 points
I’d set up E2EE messaging with OpenPGP.js, letting users create RSA key pairs stored on their device. Messages get encrypted with the recipient’s public key (AES-256) before zipping through Tor, so only they can read ‘em. The Python/Django backend just holds encrypted messages in PostgreSQL, passing them along without peeking. The UI makes encryption smooth and lets users verify keys, keeping things private like Dread users want.

Thanks for sharing this opportunity. I won’t be able to develop the forum myself, but I’m very interested in being part of the team as a moderator once the forum is up and running.
Good luck finding a skilled developer!
When the forum is ready, I would be happy to contribute as one of the official moderators.
Being a moderator means helping manage the community, enforcing rules, and ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all users.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

That was the bloom filter bug that has been already fixed. According to the link, which you cited, the I2P version then was 2.3.0. The current I2P version is 2.9.0. There are many businesses like Incognet and Mynymbox that have I2P endpoints besides Tor endpoints for their businesses. I believe markets do not use I2P because it does not come with a built in web browser like Tor, thus customers who are not technical savvy may not know how to configure their web browsers to access an I2P eepsite via proxy 127.0.0.1:4444. I don't blame I2P for this but I blame markets operators who are lazy to make their customers know.

it was discussed. due to i2p, admins lost huge amount of money as they had to burn down the affected servers. this created distrust in i2p. also tor is battle tested and proven to be good. and people using i2p is very less compared to people using tor.

Tor receiving funding from US Tax dollars, which is why Tor has more funds for development and testing. I2P does not have a central organisation structure.

What is the point of financing a forum? Software is mostly free, servers and domain are cheap, what does anyone need from your financing. Anyone can start a forum but making it value is something that money can't buy.

bro, you know what? it is not cheap for everyone. the only reason i can't start is because it is too much of money. having the ability to have a good server and able to get a domain name with a reputable tld is my dream.

I guess if you earn money by picking cabbage out of a field then it might be too much for you. For a domain you can get one as cheap as $3 on nicenic, for hosting a single server you can find multiple providers with decent bandwidth after $15-30 a month for a basic one. Cloudflare (dogshit) is free for basic WAF. Generate your own SSL certificate with Let's Encrypt. You can just make it .onion only and worry let about domain that way.

Running basic forum software on a server is not hard. Yes the larger your community is you need better servers but to start one you really don't need much unless someone who runs a forum can actually explain what I am not seeing in this.

thank you for telling me about nicenic
btw, if you add up, it will still be about $25 (some tax + other charges)
after converting to my country's currency, it is a lot

The main focus for me to setup and start a forum are 3 three important elements
1. Monitor and maintain ( security ): Regularly I have to monitor my forum for spam, abuse, and technical issues, and perform maintenance tasks like updates and backups to ensure the forum runs smoothly.
2. Establish rules and guidelines: I need to develop a set of rules and guidelines for users to follow, including posting guidelines, etiquette, and moderation policies.
3. Usability: It's important it should be organized and user friendly and easy to navigate through the the headlines and topics. [MORE LIKELY DREAD STYLE LITE-CLASSIC]
