Mail2Tor - down, DDOS : DarkNetMarkets | Torhoo darknet markets

Say it isn;t so.

Now the DDOS attacks go after my email??? Seriously???

Mail2tor had been slow, then I finally checked the clearnet site which discusses the service and has the onion link. There was an update that mentioned the DDOS attacks and says they are needing to mirgrate soon

For those of you that dont know, mail2tor or "squirrelmail" is a secure, easy to use darknet email you can sign up for. Makes a great backup with conversing with vendors when markets are down or for just additional verification on your/their part. I can;t speak exactly on the security of it, I'm not expert, but it seems legit and a number of vendors are comfortable with it.

Mail2Tor at one time was a top-notch service, but those days are long behind it. Over the last several years, they have had problems with running out of server space, they have had at least one server seized by LE. Their outgoing email has been broken for so long, that I cannot remember the last time it worked. (I should qualify that by saying that I haven't used the service in quite some time, but I'm just relating my experiences.)

I basically use Mail2Tor as a receive-only account, and even then, only as a last-ditch resort.

You would be far better off switching to Secmail.pro. Secmail.pro also uses Squirrelmail.

Can anybody else recommend Secmail.pro? Or is proton better? I've seen a lot of vendors with @protonmail email addresses

Keep an eye out. DDOS can be a signal the feds are trying to deanon a site.

(DDOS can be used to force traffic to nodes controlled by GCHQ etc)

If it's encrypted with pgp it doesn't matter. Just maybe don't do anything illegal for a week or two, see what if anything happens.
