I have two samples of MDMA
first one is dirty brown, with a sharp smell and taste, wet
the second is light, dry, with large crystals, without a sharp smell, softer in taste

both were sold as 87-89% purity mdma
Both samples are about the same in effect with the same dosage, brown is perhaps stronger and a bit longer but the lethargy the next day is stronger as well (Although it is possible that my scales are wrong with the measurements (it is difficult to confidently measure on the scale with an accuracy of 0.01 when every 0.01 matters)

what does the color\taste\smell depend on?
is it worth looking for pure crystals in the future?
Is there anything I should know about the smell\taste\appearance of MDMA (in addition to the basic rules, dosage, mixing restrictions, etc.)?

well.. thank you for your opinion, but how marquis test may help me in this case?
as far as I understand it will only show the presence of the substance, but not the concentration, quality or presence of impurities
I already know that it is MDMA (it has specific taste and smell)
I am more interested in the reason for the difference between these two samples

TLC purity test aren't that expensive and are available as AIO kits or set up to test a specific substances. You can easily and fairly accurately test the purity in the comfort of your own house.
