OMEMO and Gajim vs OTR and Pidgin : OpSec | Torhoo darknet markets

Is there a reason Pidgin and OTR is still the more popular choice instead of Gajim and OMEMO? I OTR more secure? OMEMO seems like an obvious easier choice for xmpp but tails still ships with Pidgin and most people only use OTR.

/u/bUDnDoPE I would still stick to another app. Dino still supports far less of the XMPP standards. Well, then again you also have to make sure you use a service that supports a larger amount of them. EX calyxinstitute supports a stupidly small set up the standards. While I still have an account there, I have found other providers with much greater support for the XMPPs XEXPs. You would be amazed the other things you can accomplish with the right software and server.

omemo is slightly better than OTR the reason why they chose otr is because its easier otherwise everyone would be using pgp

On the tails website they do plan on switching to Dino instant message which is OMENO. They list a lot of issues with Pidgin. Take a look at the tails website and it will go into details.
