Don’t need too go anywhere special , poppy seeds from shops are “washed” to not germinate but I can’t tell you loads will !!
Found this out the hard way scattering loads of seed in the garden expecting on a few to pop . Straight out the herb and spice aisle at woolies

You score (slice) all over the head of the poppy, let it dry. Now you can either vaporise the latex or roll it into a ball and swallow it. You won't need to do anything else to it unless you plan on refining it into diacetylmorphine.

You can also make tea with the head and stems after you've extracted the latex which can be quite potent.

Now is the perfect time of year for it. Give it a go, if nothing else its a fun hobby.
