Congratulations to all of the winners!! Thanks you to everyone for taking the time to share their knowledge, and help others. It was really tough for us to leave any of the posts out, so many of them had good information in them. Remember opsec continues to change so I hope everyone keeps sharing tips, and making great posts like this!

Also take the time and go read some of the other posts that entered. A lot of them have great information too!! /post/dfc99ce87eea11de97c8

First of all I want to say thank you to /u/Paris, /u/Shakybeats and /u/HugBunter for yet again stepping up, showing their support for the community and organising this event.

Next, I want to thank everyone for their kinds words. I genuinely had so much fun writing this entry and to be honest I didn't think I'd score so high becuase there were so many great entries for this contest.

But, I'd like to take this oportunity and say, we as a community can do better and make more educational posts even withouth financial insentive. I will definetly be starting my own series of write-ups on different subjects in the near future.

I hope you continue to do write ups. It's helps everyone. Your entry very much deserved to win, Congratulations!
I don't know is it my writing style, or the fact I threw a 2000 year old book in the mix that made you guys choose my entry. But, to be honest I was in disbelief how well everyone reacted and the amount of upvotes it got.

Thank you! I will, at least this way I can contribute and give back to the community in a meaningful way.

Also, I donated proceedings to Electronics Frontier Foundation and they hooked me up with a very cool hat in return.
Congratulation https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDNVdldtbGhiZz09#, I think it was the formatting and the Art of War quotes that did it. :-)
Thank you! I thought your post was going to take the first place to be honest. Definely my favourite entry in whole contest.

Thank you, personally I thought I was going to take second behind your post. I am a little bummed out that I did not reach second place, yet I will accept $250 any time. Though with the current price rises with Monero I would of profited another $10 if I was active earlier, the early bird truly does get the biggest worm. :-)

Yours was very good, and could of easily been in 1 or 2. We debated a lot with where to put yours. Congratulations though! I hope you continue to share.
Do not worry, I will not be going anywhere anytime soon. I’m already working on another quality OPSEC post for /d/opsec. Anyways, it was a lot of fun being able to participate in this competition.

I would of not been able to do it without the help of a comment of yours mentioning how to use google translate without JS.
I thought you were going to get #1, but there is always next time. First thing I saw was your post and I was like this shit will be very hard to surpass.

I just relayed my prize straight to ⚠️Electronics Frontier Foundation⚠️ becuase I came into this contest for the star trophy and imagine my disbelief when Paris told me they won't be giving it out like last time. lmao

Well-deserved #1! Congratulations https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDNVdldtbGhiZz09#!

Told you you'd at least place. Not surprised at all you took first on the podium :)

Congratulations to all the other winners and entrants who took their valuable time to research and make these write-ups for all of us to enjoy and especially LEARN from them. All of them definitely have something to learn from, even the ones that didn't place or win anything may have some valuable information you may be missing.

OPSEC should ALWAYS be taken seriously :)

Thank you to all participants, and thank you to Dread for running the "OPSEC hunDREADS Contest!"
Guess you were right after all man. Thank you!
Knowledge is power, congratulations all! A lot of good reads on here, my personal 2 favorites were https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDNVdldtbGhiZz09# and https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDNVdlJuSnBaV1J5YVdOb1gwNXBaWFI2YzJOb1pRPT0=#, really good reads!

Yours was really good too! I was glad to see someone cover areas of Monero we don't normally see. Simple to say use XMR!!!!!! But a lot of people don't know about Wallet Sanitation. There is also a lot of people that ask about Remote Nodes, I think your post did a lot of good!
Thank you! Felt that was really needed as I see a lot of people on here using cake wallet for market buys. That, and wallet sanitation, a lot of people don't think about that too much.
Thank you, and as Shaky said your entry was very good as well and I had a blast reading!
Woah. Awesome. Thanks so much! And congrats everyone!

First of all, thanks everyone for all the Best Practice posts. It is an another amazing collection of tools and procedures. Most of them battle-proven against certain adversaries, attacks, under certain circumstances, used by certain people with certain skills. It is but not OPSEC.

/u/Shakybeats, /u/Paris, /u/HugBunter we would like to understand why the DN community continuously deny the reality and mistakes the Best Practice for OPSEC, not only for its own detriment, but in many cases its own horror as well (see the news). It doesn't make sense. Throughout years of our career in the Counterintelligence area, we had to deal with various levels of situational awareness and intelligence levels of the large pool of stakeholders. Some of them were more informed and skilled some less, which is normal. This always determines the smoothness and way the Counterintelligence training and setup is made for each group.

We have but never encountered the situation in which large group of people, and DN community is really large, collectively and continuously denies the reality even in the face of grave consequences steaming out of it. There is not only ignorance of reality but in some cases arrogance as well. We have rewritten all the military acronyms to be able to use civic language during trainings and setup to get people on board, but it is still not clear.

The DN community, is largely not aware of its value and role. It is one of the last bastions of freedom. Its significance will show up more and more in time coming. But if the community will continue to deny the reality and mistake Best Practices for OPSEC, effectively giving themselves as a free game to the adversaries, and make again and again the same mistakes, it can fail its role, for its own horror and the horror of the rest of the humanity.

Your setup MUST be proportional to the setup of your adversaries. Now it is not the case and the gap is getting more and more in favor of the adversaries. It is time to wake up.

I do feel like some submissions got screwed over very badly, and in their some "OPSEC for your toddler!" -Guides won the prize. But as it was their money, my only complaint is that it should be made more clear what qualities the qualities the guide is looking from the hosts and hostesses.

(An I do want to emphasize that mine isn't one I feel was snubbed in any way. Only positive thing I can say that I'd put it in the top 50, however I only noticed the competition in the last 2 hours and did my best)

It was designed to be vague. The important part was being helpful and easy to understand as always. But other than that as long as it covered OPSEC there was a lot of wiggle room to play with.

I dunno if I'm just blind or how the hell I'm JUST now coming across this super cool post & amazing contest. I'm not sure enough to know who financed this & the rewards but for those who are responsible for putting up the rewards, I want to say thank you so much you guys/gals are legends that is so cool & this is exactly what noobs like myself need to be able to read & learn from so again thank you a 1000 X's.

Now 2ndly, to the contestants/winners thank you all JUST as much for being kind & patient enough to take the time to tediously type out All of your wealth of knowledge for us who can benefit greatly from just reading through all of them. I know how annoying it can be to have to sit around typing for hour or more so thanks to the creators of this contest & providing the rewards to help incentivize all these great posts by the contestants.

I'm still a noob in the grand scheme of time that DNM's have existed & I've just been a member of this community for 15-18 months roughly so I always appreciate when I can get the opportunity to soak up this level of knowledge so again thank you so incredibly much to both contestants & contest creators I have learned a LOT & am still working my way through them all but this was a genius idea y'all so I appreciate it & plan to soak every word of it up before the end of the day. Stay safe and stay healthy everyone.

P.S.
RIP WHM I will miss this sites level of security & large amount of vendors/listings. Thanks for the graceful exit & showing others honesty & integrity still CAN exist even in the shady world of DNM scene. So God bless & God's speed to ya.
