Overview of Haveno : Haveno | Torhoo darknet markets
Haveno is a non-custodial, decentralized and open source exchange platform for crypto and fiat currencies built on Tor and Monero.
People meet here to exchange Monero for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies. Haveno offers a place for people to meet and an escrow system to make sure both parties honour the terms of the trade until it's completed.
Monero (XMR) is used as security deposit by traders, which will then make the exchange outside Haveno (e.g. a bank transfer from trader A to trader B). After the exchange is completed, both traders will receive their security deposit back. One trader will receive the asset (e.g. Dollars) and the other trader the amount of XMR agreed for that asset.
Haveno can be run on Linux, macOS, and Windows by using a third party application and network like RetoSwap. Currrently no network is endorsed by Haveno.
When running an Haveno app like RetoSwap:
- You are one of the nodes that composes the Haveno network
- There is no central entity
- Trades happen directly between nodes (P2P network)
- The network runs on Tor

I found that for the vast majority of times after the first time it loaded pretty quick. Make sure you are using the latest version and update regularly from their github repo
