Persistant background must be implemented on Tails OS! : Tails | Torhoo darknet markets
TLDR : Spotted Tails users IRL just because of default background
Two weeks ago I was in a different town from mine , in a coffee shop with tables that sit close to each other , next to me sat 2 younger guys with a laptop so that I could see maybe 20% of their screen .
I was not even looking curiously but when I glanced for a split second I immediately noticed the Tails default blue background so I leaned over a bit and sure enough I recognized the UI .
They were unable to resolve some issue for a solid hour so I said "I can probably help you guys if you're having problems on your Tails machine " (sounds a bit nicer in my language).
Both were spooked but one still muttered yyes , so I just thought them how PGP works and fixed their mistake , also gave them advice to always change background to default windows 10.
IMO the Tails OS default background looks suspicious as hell even If you don't know about Tails , and if you do its painfully easy to recognize .
Imagine I was a fed these 2 would have been done for , and I'm not a software engineer but I guess custom persistent background feature isn't super hard to implement and It would serve a real purpose for OpSec.
