The key you posted belongs to another user. Which happens to be a moderator to this sub. Unless you own this key, you won't be able to read the message Dread sends to you with the decryption code. You have to create your own key and export it. Check /post/a711c217b8870b2b9d49 steps 1️⃣, 4️⃣ and 6️⃣.

It really took me a minute for figure out why I'm a shit on this post. I did realize that my key needs updated though, it's only 2048 bit and I'm not sure why I never noticed that before. I'll have to generate a new one.

I have to admit. That was cold. Username checks out though.
About the key I tend to believe RSA2048 is good enough for 99% of users here. Protects against mass surveillance. I'm curious if you can make the switch without loosing your current fingerprint. Maybe by creating two new subkeys, then delete the previous ones.

Which is a good idea I guess, to see if folks are actually helpful/knowledgeable in PGP.

Bought a lot of cannabis with 2048 bit keys, never had a problem.

Here is a kind of step by step.

Once you have created your key pair in kleopatra, you need to click on it, and up in view you need to press details, then export, right click select all and copy, that is your public key block, the one you pasted previously is not yours.

Now that you have your public key copied, you need to paste it in the same place you already have, just your key this time, and once it asks you for the decryption code you need to do the following - open kleopatra and on the upper right side you will see notepad, click on that and go back to dread, copy the begin pgp message that's above the verify code, paste it into kleopatra notepad and click decrypt, you will see your code that you need to paste back into dread for verifying your pgp key.
