Scam Link (per request by OpSec mod) : Monero | Torhoo darknet markets
Posting this here for visibility. TL;DR: VERIFY YOUR DNB LINK AT
https://torhoo.cc/go.php?u=TDJRdlJHRnlhMjVsZEUxaGNtdGxkSE5PYjI5aWN3PT0=#, I was using a bad link for the DNB and the crypto conversion section was replaced with Xchange and Monero.forex or something like that
Hello all, starting to sweat a little bit about an LTC -> XMR conversion I started yesterday on Xchange. It's been about 17 hours since initiating my exchange, and after 6 hours of not seeing the XMR balance or the refund hit the refund address, I emailed the Xchange team with as many details as I could provide. That was about 11 hours ago, so I'm wondering what's happened here or if I got scammed. This is also my first conversion so maybe I did something wrong and lost everything, not really sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: I think it's safe to say I was phished/scammed. I was using a bad DNB link that replaced the crypto conversion section with Xchange/monero.forex. So that's a bummer but I'll be fine. I'd like to know what mistakes I made (I'm assuming not verifying the source somehow, both the DNB and the exchange service) and how to proceed more safely. I'd also like to know if my Tails OS is compromised and what other breaches I may be dealing with. I ran the xm-cli.py as well to try and verify the transaction...total noob mistake, I know.
In "Exchanges" in the banner, you will get links for those that are thought to have a good reputation.
Xchange has a lot of scam, you can check the right onion link in the "Exchanges".
To eliminate the risks to being scammed while exchanging monero, use a decentralized non custodial exchange, like the ones recommended in the same wiki.
Edit: This time around I bought LTC via wire transfer and converted using Infinity Exchanger, but I figure buying XMR on the DEX is the best way to do this.
