Abacus is a great market, you also get your own private URL so you can access it anytime - check the top of the main page in the green box.

I order every week through the market using XMR and have never had a problem.

When you send a deposit just make sure you only send 1 deposit at a time to the address, wait for it to be received by the market, then reload and you will be given a different address to deposit to. The deposit addresses are one time use only for XMR.

I've placed at least 6 orders plus a month over the last year and apart from a few ddos attacks and admin issues on their side it's been nothing but smooth sailing. People keep getting phished because they don't follow a few really simple steps
1. NEVER EVER get the market URL off a ckearnet site, get it from the markets sub dread and pgp verify the links provided with the markets key
2. Once you've logged in using a pgp verified addy ensure that you also have PGP 2FA enabled on your account
If u take the time to pgp verify the market links every single time there's virtually no chance of getting phished, unless someone high jacks the actual sub dread, which I have been assured by numerous people on here would be very unlikely to occur.
Also, if you are using the same pgp key on a new market that was you had previously used on a market that exit scammed or folded, your asking for trouble.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert and have only recently started following my own advice.
I used clearnet sites for ages and never had pgp 2fa and it was just dumb luck I didn't get phished.
Stay safe ppl

Exactly, it is so basic like you said. We would add to save legit links on an encrypted container / external usb flash drive and always use the same url. Also we just have added extra antiphishing measures to encrypted signed deposit addresses with user's PGP.

Anyone can easily check that you had been spreading FUD about Abacus for months now. Each month saying that we had exited scammed. I know that it hurts you, but you will keep reading Abacus name.

They indeed did fuck me over. You know what you did /u/Vito. Your explanation is meaningless when I know that I haven't been phished. And so what if that address belong to some "other" business or website? Can't that other business or website be yours? Anyway, I know I won't be getting my money back from yous, but I know that you'll not go unpunished. Justice will prevail.

I had trouble with a deposit. It took a couple of days with a support ticket but it was deposited into my account and I have since ordered. Don't know why got stuck. It was a bummer waiting and they apologised for the wait. I have more than 10 successful orders from them before deposit failed. I usually can get into the market OK. There are a few OZ vendors, some old names and a few new ones. Option of bitcoin and monero which is a plus for me. Not saying they won't escape one day but for now they work for me.

For Aussies everyone I know is on Abacus. Americans might use other markets too but I've been using Abacus for a long time and even have my own megalist rating of vendors (although also use the search function before ordering as sometimes vendors can scam before I log in, check them out, do my research and put some testing orders through). Sometimes it gets DDOS'ed so it might be difficult to get through but I've had no issues most of the time.

Absolutely dodge, they stole my 22.4615 XMR (that's almost 8000AUD) and wouldn't reply to my tickets or messages.

They are alway quick to post on here...
hey /u/vito why do you think its acceptable to steal 8k from /u/doofus and then basicly tell him go away when raises it with you. What kind of market are you running bro ?

Bro, I just got a reply from the saying I got phished. Haha of course, the best and biggest bullshitters. I know the address I used is correct because my purchase history, my orders, my balance - all was correct. The fuckers are liars and thieves; simple as that.

unfortunately what you have written is not a good indicator of confirming you have not been phished.

a MiTM phish will look identical and interact exactly as if you are logged in to the correct market site.
the only way to avoid it is by verifying your link with mirrors.txt - so many people STILL do not do this. it literally takes 10 seconds once you know how.
you can think all you want that you haven't been phished, but there are so many ways it can happen.

protect yourself by verifying that link every time you log in:

Sounds like BS, more like went to fund /u/vito coke and hookers fund. All of sudden a whole bunch of people get phished mysteriously the same time as an update is goin ahead. The is how most markets like the ones these guys have run and exited before (Pax romina) operate.

They can shove their bullshit up their asses, mate. I am a software engineer and know all about phishing. What happened to me is plain theft. Exactly what you said, my money is now in the pockets of /u/vito et al. May it be a curse on them!

If you really are software engineer you should know that it is easy to check if an address belongs to a wallet or not. Blockchain never lies. We always verify case by case any missing deposit reported, we even verify double deposit manually and manually credit them (as several customers can confirm it, although it is clearly explained to do not send double deposits). A reverse proxy phishinng website works exactly like the original website, everything is the same except some urls and deposit addresses that are replaced by phisers. We had added new anti phishing measures, now all deposit addresses are PGP signed and optionally you can disable QR and get it inside an encrypted message. There are more things we added to fight phishing attacks (although it is a cat and mouse never ending game). We have saved several deposit addresses from some identified websites, the address where you have sent the money 8AXbH84xys1CnvtYhJMtn2GihS4Dw9gqZ5bYWkFNsZKdbTRdHRBngieQjvZMsmitqfhfW9KtfsHvV81UB4LUsaA66ti4Db7 it belongs to a know phishing website called darknetone. DOT com (DO NOT USE IT). Right now if you try to login or register an an account in their phishing site (which starts with n73otkayd6) it won't work because of new changes we did in the update. But you can create an account in Versus and if you login in the real website with the same user you will see that deposit addresses are not the same (to save you time, I just created this user: sampleuserhere / Superpass123. and you can check this unpaid order there: /dashboard/order/532430#checkout Check it in both websites, the legit and the reverse proxy website. Everything is the same except the deposit address, that's how a reverse proxy website works). If you do not want to face this issue never again, please enable 2FA and enable the anti phishing protection.

Is this a typo? OP didn't have 2fa enabled?

A typo, I ate a comma. We always recommend to enable 2FA + phishing protection (specially for the people that does not PGP verify addresses).

Yeah it's pretty hard to understand not having 2fa enabled.

It was hard to imagine that you actually meant "never again enable 2FA". I think you meant disable. :)

If you opened a ticket and we confirmed you were using a phishing site you were. A reverse proxy website works exactly as the legit url with the exception of replaced urls and deposit addresses. You can check my other comment here about darknetone to check a live example of how a reverse proxy website works.

I just made a $500+ deposit with the new pgp deposit address verification enabled and it's been 10 minutes, my deposit has been detected and is waiting for the confirmations. The new format made me a little nervous but I have made dozens and dozens of orders over the last 6 months, have always followed those few easy steps and looked to dread and it's users for real-time feedback and advice on where the market was at and what to do when the market was down and there was even the slightest whiff of a scam. Vito never went radio silent for much longer than a few hrs and they have obviously been working hard to upgrade the marketplace security significantly and they have also managed to customers in the loop anytime the sites crashed. I've yet to have a problem, this is the best site I've used as an Aussie since the original alphabet and what do you know, my deposit was in my account within the hour and I've successfully placed an order, yet again. Thanks vito and abacus
