I don't know. I think the way Tor works it's very difficult to see where the attack comes from, so it's not like cn where you can filter addresses. At least, I think that's how it works.
I'm not really good at this. I think it works with an array of servers behind the access point. The ttrick is to pass the access point and disrupt the mirrors directly. Now, I'm no techie, but that's it in English if I got it right. Complex subject with lots of tech involved.
If you could identify the attacker somehow it could be possible to attack their command and control server if they are using a botnet configured this way.
For protection you need to be able to outscale it. Either its a DoS attack at the network level or application level. An application level attack would be say performing an action that uses a lot of database resources. You also need enough front servers. The approach of temporary mirrors is good, but the issue is that the clearnet domain is fairly easy to take down, so distributing them becomes an issue.
It's an ongoing process, you'll need to adapt because the attackers will likely adapt. You can outscale them but if they're using botnet traffic they have no real cost, so it will be incredibly difficult to beat them with that alone. Markets are pretty secretive about their infrastructure for opsec reasons so it's hard to know how long it would take because it depends what they're actually doing to mitigate the issue (assuming they are).
took the dog for a walk while the weather was still cool in the morning, now watching the new adam curtis documentary. I made a big list of summer activities I'm trying to go out and do but so far I've only managed to check one off. lol. Congratulations on getting the new vendor store up and running, it looks great!
functionality over aesthetics any day of the week haha. My list is mostly a collection of beaches, museums and zoos in my area so I can't really post it but you get the idea. one of the more ambitious ones is to drive out to hearst's castle and see that, maybe stay the weekend in SLO or pismo beach if I can find cheap lodgings.
