Can even leave fingerprints wearing 2-3 pairs of nitrile gloves. A pair of thin cotton nighttime moisture gloves underneath the nitrile works like a charm.

On the topic of the mylar... anyone have an accurate photo of what an item sealed in thick mylar bags actually looks like in a customs-grade scanner?

I've heard both ways about the mylar in a scanner. I've heard some people say it just shows black like a void, I've heard other people say it sees right through it but have not seen proof either way.

Anyone have a pic they could dumpload of a scanned mylar packaged item? Or even references to what makes you say it can or can't block the scans? Would be very interested in putting the issue to rest with some receipts and ideally pics.

At the very least, if anyone around here works in healthcare, maybe someone could arrange a little test for us and zap a mylar bag with something in it to see how it shows up. I know customs scanners are not the same as what they're using in hospitals, but I imagine it would still give a pretty good idea.

Mylar, the registered trademark, is a plastic and provides no x-ray protection. However, Mylar bags are a generic name for metal coated Mylar shipping bags.
