/u/Gilgamesh Hi, what problems with the layout do you have specifically? I'll get my designer to alter, just tried to get something similar to what people are used to with Reddit.
/u/perpetuallyQuitting Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I can try get the sidebar altered, it's all down to your resolution how large it actually appears. On mine it takes up around 15% of the screen max, for example (large resolution). I'll speak to my designer and see what I can do.
Text wrapping is down to the designer too, it is being altered today, sorry about that!
I'm considering running a clearnet squid proxy if I can do so securely, since it will be completely separate to the hidden service. This would allow access from any user including mobile devices (although this goes against what I stand for, I think it would be beneficial to allow people to make the move from Reddit).
/u/HugBunter two suggestions (just got on this site but these things jumped out at me) firstly it is kinda bad opsec but highly convient which is running a tails vm, the screen only gets so big. So maybe a way to minimize the right sidebar of the screen, like how you'd minimize the sides of a pdf viewer? I do think the sidebar is important but an option to hide it would help.
Secondly the way the text wraps about the box borders is tough on the eyes. not sure technically how you'd do it but the text needs to be smarter about when it breaks based on my screen resolution and size. Other than that (and those were small things!) the site looks fantastic. I do kind of miss the way I could load up a vpn and surf reddit and have medicore opsec if I didn't post or login. Anyways, good job.
/u/MJA20WithA3 a squid proxy would be completely separate to the actual server and wouldn't reveal anything, it could be compromized a lot easier however and backdoored to catch user logins or worse. It would be more beneficial to suggest users on mobile devices etc would connect through Tor apps.
/u/HugBunter I understand the hesitation, and I respect your decision either way. I think it will just translate to less traffic being tor only as it's something I don't/can't do casually
/u/HugBunter Is it possible to let separate comment chains break out in individual sub-chains? Unless I'm not looking at the site right all replies to individual posts in a chain will go to the end of the chain instead of right under the post you replied to.
/u/HugBunter I'd like to request that when opening a comment thread the screen defaults to the OP, like on Reddit. Everytime I click through I have to scroll up to see the beginning of the conversation.
/u/LSD25/u/PartyDrugs It doesn't do any harm in my opinion. You have to go out of your way to put yourself into any sort of danger, follow the same opsec procedure you would for a market forum and you have little risk.
/u/murderhomelesspeople TBH, I think this Onion sub finally fills the void. Good (i say again, good) vendors now can duly advertise their products without worry of Reddit and discuss with their customers more openly. Better future for DNM subs.
idk how anyone fucks with counterfeits ever. Using them during drug deals even just slightly slid in is just as bad as using them out right. Low lit night clubs is the only thing I know for sure unsure where else.
But both US/UK as well as like everywhere seems so risky to fuck with counterfeits.
/u/MJA20WithA3 Ah yeah it will jump to the comment, the error alert would be at the top if you scrolled back up, that was an oversight. I'll reduce the harshness of them restrictions soon.
/u/MJA20WithA3 I'll work out a solution at some point, not a massive issue for now. I'm just glad there aren't any huge bugs as far as I know right now. Everything has been very minor, I expected a lot more.
/u/MJA20WithA3 Yes, downvotes are limited because the sorting algorithm isn't as good as Reddit's yet, so trying to limit shilling. Did you not receive an alert as to why it wasn't registered?
/u/SteadySupplies Christ Shilling was the death to Reddit. But I don't know how good an only upvote system would work (removing the ability to downvote) /u/HugBunter maybe the alert is broken.
/u/SteadySupplies Perhaps a very interesting proposal then. We all knows Quantik's manipulation on Reddit as just one large example. Obviously so many vendors some fake some real until exiting smaller examples.
/u/HugBunter ever consider not having the downvote option?
Obviously there's the hope that when Dread's more widespread/popular it'll be better at countering those problems/be less susceptible to them. But seems like a coin toss when removing the downvote could be something quite good.
whos got some consistent and cheap beans? i mean ill fuck with international but rather domestic. any suggestions guys? btw i think the site is dope man. definitely switching from reddit.
