I would appreciate part 2. You think of vnc server as secure? Has to be through ssh tunnel right? Then aren't you really trusting VPS provider a lot? At least with local tails it's gone once shut down. I keep tails persistence off and use second stick with hidden volume of whatever i want persistent. VPS seems too exposed it seems?

your understanding of tails is totally wrong LOL!
tails has persistance storage that is encrypted with LUKS, it's open source encryption tool, it's as secure as truecrypt/veracrypt.

whole idea of tails is that it won't save any data outside encrypted partition, which gets dismounted as soon as you shut it down or pull the usb out. only way someone can access your encrypted info, is if they gain access to a running machine that has tails usb still plugged in and storage mounted.

and talking about phones? that's autism! only retards would use phone in darkweb. i wrote a long post about WHY you should NEVER use phone in any darkweb activites. simple version -- os on phone is irrelevant, as the main phone chipset is what can spy on you even if you have no sim card in it, phone pings towers and those pings will automatically log your IMEI + its location.

using a VPS is also stupid, because that VPS has to be hosted somewhere and it means its vulnerable. it's better to just enable remote control on your encrypted laptop or pc, so you can login from anywhere.
lock it, so if someone gains physical access to it, then its still locked and hopefully they will seize it and it means turning it off, so your stuff remains encrypted. by turning it off, they just make sure they get nothing.
but even then, i highly doubt any of them have enough brain power to use liquid nitrogen to freeze the ram and quickly put it into forensic pc that can read that ram. this is only way to get encryption key.

if you're on the go, then small netbook with tails is best way to go. make sure to have multiple usb sticks, put random stuff on them and make sure to alter timestamps so it looks old. put some music on some, put some videos on some, put some useless files on some and on one you have tails.
this is in case your stuff gets checked, you just say that you don't know, you carry multiple usb sticks just in case you need them, tell them you don't remember everything that's on them, that's why its best to carry like 10 usb sticks or so. it makes that story more realistic.

main reason why people get caught, is because they are too stupid to think of a story, they start thinking on the go and it will be flawed and easily noticeable. watch some police reality tv shows and you see what i mean. they ask same question in different ways, they make casual conversation and then casually just ask same thing in different ways, looking for inconsistencies. if you dont have answer to everything instantly, they will know that you're making stuff up on the go. this is how investigators are able to tell if someone is lying.
story is most important thing, make up a reason WHY you have so many usb sticks and why you carrying a laptop. dont make it look obviously fake, put some stuff on it. it could be your personal laptop aswell, but that's why you have tails os. you plug it in when you need it.

however i still prefer truecrypt/veracrypt and just keep all my stuff on it, less hassle.
you can easily make clone of your ssd/hdd so if your laptop gets broken or seized, then you don't lose any personal stuff.
same with tails, use imager tool to make image of usb stick, so you never lose your data. keep that image everywhere, since its encrypted, it doesn't matter where you keep it.
