Using latest Tails version. Just followed the normal steps on the Kleo guide. I get to the point where it states that it's creating a new key and this may take some time and then after about a minute the timeout error pops up.

Could it be because you're using very old hardware? Like a 10 years old minimum computer?
Also, can you open a terminal and try the following prompt:

gpg -v --quick-generate-key TEST rsa4096 - 0

If it succeed, you will be asked to fill a passphrase, then a new key named TEST will be added to your ring. Can you send me the output?

Yeah hardware could be reasoning but never had any problems before with previous PGP software. Computer is under 10 years old. Is that just running the prompt through the terminal in tails?

Need to know what the full command is, and which software (command line, kleopatra,). This means it is probably asking you something (a prompt) that you didn't respond to so it times out.
