Trouble accessing tor : Tails | Torhoo darknet markets

Hi,

I'm making this post because I can't manage to access tor on tails OS when I'm on a public WiFi (coffee shop, library, etc...). I know the solution isn't using unsafe browser because some of the WiFi I tried required a password and I'm pretty sure my clock isn't the issue too. The WiFi's owner is probably blocking access to tor so I tried using a custom bridge and that didn't work either. My last option (from what I saw) is to use a v..p..n before trying to access tor but I don't know how to do that on tails. If anyone knows something that can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Most public Wifi's have what we call a "Walled Garden" that you have to commit to the Terms & Conditions first. You WILL have to use the Unsafe browser to accept the terms and conditions first. If for some reason the site does not redirect, I recommend memorizing an HTTP only site and going there. httpforever, neverssl, etc. Those will usually redirect you as well. Once you have verified connectivity, then you can close the Unsafe Browser and launch Tor.
These are also remembered by the reported MAC address of the device. Since Tails anonymizes this, you will have to do the same steps again if you restart Tails, since you'll have a different MAC address.

but if its a WiFi that ask for a password like in a small coffee shop that have their own private WiFi, I shouldn't need to commit to a certain Terms & Conditions, no ?
Thanks
Usually if it's asking for a password, no. But I've seen a few ask for a password and still have terms and conditions, so that's not a good assumption.

You should verify connectivity first - if you have to use the unsafe browser for that, that's what it's for. Just close it out afterwards.

He might have port/traffic pinholes, you could try a vpn that has https tunneling like windscribe or mullvad.
