how long do you guys think it will take until they release it ?
i'm preety hyped to see what will happen once governments won't be able to ddos tor websites anymore
It still needs code review and there are other tasks on the list they wanted to implement, its unclear if they will hold it back for them. I'd say minimum of a few weeks.
This version is also an "initial" version, which they will significantly amend, they want to get the Equix verison out of the door for now and stabilize the network. This version will 100% end the attacks for good though.
Thanks for sharing this. Been wondering where to get information on PoW in Tor progress. Looks as if we're closer to fewer and less effective DoS attacks. Cheers!
If I read it right the effort started about 8 months ago but in the last month, few weeks even, its really ramped up. Anyone know what prompted the stomp on the gas peddle? What do the deveoplers get out of this project? Sure seems like a huge amount of work. Really hard work at that.
They've been slow with working on it but the intial work began literally years ago now, they haven't had the funding, or should I say, the funding was not assigned to hidden service work until the attacks started to really harm the network last year
Thanks for the update, was wondering what's actually been happening with this. I guess like another commenter said, they purposely delayed doing anything to help hidden onion services from being resilient until it finally started impacting the overall greater network. But knowing them I bet it'll be another 6mo before it's out for GA host and client.
