What the fuck.. I'm not sure that paying them was the best move to be honest because they're not exactly trustworthy so anything could happen. Obviously just scamming more money out of people.

That's very bold of them threatening that and saying I guess nobody ever slipped up. Well let's all hope they never slipped up either eh? This is absolutely disgusting that they've stooped this low and I hate to say it, but I hope this turns into the sort of situation that happened with WSM.

Agreed they wont release anything there just tryna get more money
There are a lot of very skilled and educated people on dread. I wonder if any of them will take this as a challenge to determine what information they might be able to uncover regarding incognito market staff involved in this. Reminds me of a movie:

This is the most likely outcome of this extortion attempt. pharoah will take any and all coin they can get, then release the information regardless.

I am not 100% convinced. Sharing tx_id data is going to make their attempt at laundering and mixing the funds much more difficult.

Coins are already flagged and tagged by blockchain analysis firms anyway, but they only link it to us, not to each user

Yes but by releasing information those deposits can become linked to usernames and then addresses which used auto-encrypt.

well if there was a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of him releasing the information atleast our buyers wont have to worry about it anymore and that was priceless to us so thats why we paid

You cannot guarantee that the data was purged.
All you can do is hope with your fingers crossed.

If he's going to the extent of extortion then I wouldn't put it behind him to release "purged" information.
Just because he says he did, what's the likelyhood of him going through and genuinely deleting that information.

TX ID's could still be leaked, buyers information, etc.. For example, you paid the extortion costs. Now lets assume he keeps the buyers information and requires the buyer to pay a separate extortion cost to remove their information.

This is the first time ever in DNM history that an admin / marketplace has extorted its users. Everyone has always closed the doors, stole funds and ran.

In my opinion, what he's charging me for extortion should be taken out of the funds he already stole from escrow.
It's mind boggling that he would even attempt such a thing.

Because I even held true to customers and shipped orders after the fact of the exit to make sure customers didn't lose money.

I actually got an order on Incognito today from someone who has been consistent once maybe twice a week.
I would feel like a shit bag if I didn't ship this customers item. So again I have to take another loss due to the customer being a regular and hope to god he gets on Dread.

So I'm taking another $600 loss on an item because I feel bad for this user and have zero way of contacting him. I guess my only option is to put a printed note in the parcel for him to read when he does receive it. Only thing I can think of.

Of course it makes sense. Drug users are paranoid and most dealers don't understand LEO, they're just scared.

It's not a bad exit, their only real mistake was trying to get Hug to take down Dread instead of doing it themselves the way Apollon/Reloaded did.

pharoah obviously could have put together a DDOS to knock Dread off for a few days, the mistake, as thieves often make, was assuming everyone else was a greedy and dishonest as them.

Just don't pay this fucking clown.

Cocaineinc clearly has the best intentions but you have to assume nothing ever gets deleted. That data is a cash cow.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?????
This could be potentially VERY dangerous to vendors that used BTC instead of XMR (why tho).
Anyways what Incognito is doing here is normally called a "dick move"

Anyways, I'd say that this is a lesson to all of the people that didn't use PGP after all

1) Never pay a blackmailer, they will blackmail you again

2) Given that sing-songy bitch post on the site, how can you possibly believe anything will be deleted? pharoah already said they haven't extorted the buyers yet. If indeed you paid, you paid for nothing.

3) How did you pay there isn't a payment address attached to the purge function (or wasn't when I looked 20 minutes ago)

You mean you just wasted $5,000. He'll just keep blackmailing you as long as you pay up. And when you stop paying, he'll release the info anyway. It sucks for your customers but it's kinda on you and them for trading in BTC and not using pgp encryption for sensitive data.

If nothing else it at least accomplishes that this vendor wants to communicate how much they care about their customer data, safety etc

Can't hate on that.

I'm going through my feedback currently trying to determine when I joined that marketplace.
I do not know if I was on Archetyp first or what.

I believe I joined around Novermber, I am currently tracking down all of my TX ID's and determining if I potentially leaked myself by sending BTC to an address with KYC.
I have been smart enough to use new addresses every withdrawal, deposit, etc.. I've ALWAYS made sure BTC goes to a cold wallet. I do not touch it at all for at least a year. But now this has me worried.

You know he is going to leak the information anyways,
Let's talk about being one of the most dishonorable people to ever enter the DNM scene.

I suggest other vendors go through their TX ID's as well and trace down which wallets things were sent to.
This is also a good reason why every vendor should have a hardware wallet.
This is also a good reason why every customer should use XMR.

I do not know if paying him is going to be the best solution.
This is also a good reason why I rarely give out tracking information.
I usually check tracking history myself and copy / paste the whereabouts of the package.

I am going to modify my refund policy right now to state "I will never give out tracking information."
I have ALWAYS recommended people use PGP then copy/paste that information into the markets.
I had a gut feeling that marketplaces store sensitive data and the auto-encrypt feature to be bullshit.

I am lost for words. All I can say is "Wow."
I hope he stubs his fucking toe getting out of bed tomorrow.

This is absolutely low of any market admin to do.You can only trust yourself with your security.

Don't rely on built-in encryption on any of these sites! You don't know what they store on their back-end.

Buyers, PLEASE use PGP and pay with XMR! DO NOT EXPOSE INFORMATION TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T NEED TO SEE IT! I don't want to see your safety become compromised due to greed!
