We should make an effort to spread awareness of the uses of Monero beyond drugs and dnms. : Monero | Torhoo darknet markets

Its spectrum is so much wider than what's depicted here on Dread. Monero gives us liberty, and a sound currency, it's mathematical magic to have fungibility in a blockchain. Just an idea I thought I'd leave here.

Yes, your abso Right Friend, and many other locations promote xmr as the finacial freedom that it does bring to everyone.

"a personal, numbered, anonymous-swiss bank account in everyone's pocket" ...if I can plagerize a phrase read off, Facebook or somewhere similiar! lol

The thing about Dread and monero is a relationship supported through many illegal practices, yes it's true. But Dread is ment for the communities harm-reduction, mostly involved with drug use, which does happen to be illegal in many locations. But also don't loose sight of the fact, with and/or without Monero, dnm, Dread, and illegal activity would all still exsist and be in operation. Just 3/4 years ago, myself and many others, were right here on Dread, doing the same thing with BTC. And before that, we were all someplace else (Reddit/Craigslist/Mainnet) and using paypal, greendot & gift cards!

Another Quote: "the game never changes; just the players, playthings and playplaces & their faces"

Dread users aren't directly interested to spread monero, they prefers to use it. But educating people to increase acceptance is indeed

I do joke that where some currencies had the gold standard to back them up, Monero has the cocaine standard.

Seriously, be good to see cash and monero more mainstream. The tracking on the population these days is insane.

people don't like to be shilled things. the best thing to do is get people interested in protecting their privacy, because the more privacy aware somebody is, the more they are going to be interested in _using_ something like monero. Instead of just speculating.

I agree. There are many reasons why people would want anonymity beyond simply for legal reasons. For example, someone might not want their spouse knowing that they purchased something off of a porn site. I think the best way to encourage adoption is to build perfectly legal services that accept Monero first (or ideally exclusively), and give incentives for people to use Monero. To some extent, these already exist, but we could always use more.

How about just protection from snooping banks, oppressive institutions, etc.? If I wanted to buy whatever without my information being available for anyone to leak, that's reason enough!

Any effort you make is not enough.

Monero gives us liberty

Why? Because you are anonymous when using it.
If I would ask you for 10 uses for monero, most of them would be illegal uses.

A crypto is known for what it's used for, most of monero use cases are ilegal so that will always be monero reputation.
If you want a different reputation then it has to be mostly used for other reasons, which isn't and won't be the case with monero.

Any anonymous crypto will have that reputation

Looks like another person interested in the social laundering of Monero.
