Trying to find an old friends contact info but I only know their name and using websites to find people on the clearnet aren't working cause the age is wrong, any advice?

The clearnet will do the job just fine given you know how to apply some basic OSINT skills. Think about what unique identifiers you know about your 'old friend.' See what info you can scrounge from what you have, and keep building. Check out the OSINT framework (a clearnet website) for guidance. Practice good OpSec. Tor isn't some magic bullet that will get the job done.
