As someone who started out 14 years ago on "low dose" codeine for light pain relief, and cut to 13 years later and I'm hooked on Oxy, then can't afford Oxy and start on Heroin...
Now I'm in recovery and on Methadone.
But there isn't a day that goes by where I wish that doctor didn't give me that codeine.

No one dies from pain. I know it's not nice, but look more at stopping the source of what is causing the pain, rather than stopping the pain itself with highly addictive opioids.

I'm based in the UK, and I am starting a small (but growing) petition with my local MP to stop doctors giving out opiates like they're Smarties.
They should be given to terminal cancer patients only.
Even people recovering from surgery don't need opiates like Morphine, as IV Paracetamol is far more effective for pain relief post-op.

I really don't wanna be THAT guy, but please please please don't start with opiates. Trust me it will stop the pain at first, but you will gradually need more and more and will get so badly addicted that the only way out is either weeks on a cold turkey detox throwing up and not sleeping for days and even weeks, or a lengthy recovery on opiate substitutes like me.

There are better none narcotic pain relief for certain things, like for nerve pain opiates are pretty useless, but anti-inflammatory's like Naproxen are great for nerve pain. That's just one example.

Please look for none-narcotic pain relief. If you wanna have fun with drugs, go with Weed, Cocaine (that is generally none addictive, certainly it's none-physically addictive) or other drugs that are generally not addictive. But opioids and benzos you should steer well clear of brother.

I only say all this because I care my friend. Of course you should do what you want in the end. No judgment from here.

Benzodiazepines: These are commonly prescribed for anxiety, but they can also induce a sense of calm and relaxation, offering temporary relief from pain. Again, extremely addictive and potentially fatal if misused.

Certain stimulants in low doses: While primarily used for focus, some stimulants can produce feelings of euphoria and energy, which may
temporarily mask pain. However, this is extremely dangerous, and the potential for serious heart issues and addiction are massive.

Various dissociatives: These drugs alter your perception of reality, which can numb pain, but they carry significant risks of psychological damage and addiction. Using these would be incredibly irresponsible.

Ketamine may actually be a good option but you cannot use it frequently as it can ruin your liver with repeated usage. It is a very effective anesthetic and it disassociates you so you won't have mental distress. Therapeutic treatment of the non drug variety may also be a good choice, IE get a massage once a week or get a gym membership with a hot tub

Opiates are generally ineffective for the type of pain management you are looking for, in my opinion. Risk of addiction is super high even with relatively tame stuff like low dose tramadol. Also, drugs like tramadol have other issues insofar as they behave differently from traditional opiates ie morphine. Asides that, if you need pain treatment everyday the price and tolerance increase rapidly. This is why opiates are only good as a last resort, imo

what country are you in? if US, 7OH (an alkaloid found in the kratom plant & available as standalone pills/powder from various clearnet sources) might work for you. when i'm in w/d from "real" opiates it solves all the physical problems though won't touch my shitty temper & compulsion to make inappropriate jokes to strangers

There's a reason opiods have been the mainstay of pain relief for decade - it works. The evidence (double blind controlled trials) is very weak for paracetamol if we are talking about pain that makes one crazed. Something more than a headache. Man, if you keep the dose low and you've not got the coding in your DNA for addiction, 5 mg or oxycontin will make you feel mellow and the pain is gone and so quickly. Don't re-dose until 4 - 6 hours after last and don't keep upping the dose. Great and non toxic drug, but the body gets used to it, will need more to work and will jack up at you when you stop. Jumping of 80 mg of oxycontin taken 4 times a day for 4 weeks will be very uncomfortable. Jumping off 5 mg (Endone in Australia) of oxy contin taken morning and night is no big deal. It's the high doses that the body revolts against when it's suddenly taken away. Or if you get caught doing 40 mg, 4 times a day, just drop back slowly over a few weeks. That is what they do with Methadone. It's almost painless if you taper down slowly. And yes, I learnt the hard way. Now with age and experience I will take 20 mg of oxycontin on a Sunday afternoon and get busy ironing my work shirts, or washing my motorcycles and have no desire to keep throwing them down. A large percentage of the population has had these drug either pre op for their calming affect or post surgery for pain and most didn't get keen on them and fall over into addiction. I'm sure you will be the same. But get that pain under control man and naturally the more you understand source - the better.
