What happens if dark.fail goes down? : Dread | Torhoo darknet markets

I think I remember Hug making a comment on the importance of having a variety of platforms to serve as backups, and dark.fail is all that seems to be holding everything up right now as far as links go.

Are there any others out there who aren't with dread or dark.fail who could host other platforms for links and forums? Any plans for diversification?

If we should've learnt anything from our time on the DN it's to anticipate for everything to come crashing down at any point for any reason. There needs to be multiple points of entry to market links and forums such as this.

While this does not directly relate to dread (aside from the onion domains) I'm going to approve this. The reason why is because there should be a discussion for this community about what should happen if dark.fail does go down and subsequently we also go down.

For those who don't know /u/hugbunter created a subreddit called ⚠️/r/DreadAlert⚠️ where you can always get the most updated links and information about what is happening with Dread.

There are a few other services which provide links to Dread. If you are the operator of such a site please post it as a comment below this sticky for the record.

Site works with the main address and the most recent mirrors. Hug should be able to provide me with new ones if that ever becomes necessary.

/dread will have the current working address.

Edit: Guess I should add the link. darknetq7skv7hgo[dot]onion/dread/

If you know what your doing, easy way to know a fake site is to look at the coding
2 things you'l probably see

1) the text content will be image formats
1) You'll probably see Httrack in green txt under

Comment on the reviews:
'Thanks to HugBunter and his site Dread that have so many bugs that allows me to get user infomation to use on Empire! I have donated a lot of money now to HugBunter for his contribution to my wallet :)'

The problem is:

Noobs do not check facts!

And this is why phishing and scamming will be lucrative for many years to come :-(

For Dream Market and others there have been legit Onion-URLs even on Wikipedia :-/

Besides Dread you have 2 more very alive forums in the onion network:
- Avengers
- The Hub

Then there is Masterlist, DarkNetLive and DarkFail...

In the clearnet you have Reddit too!
Yes, you could fall for some phishing URLs on Reddit: But the many users there will give alarm immediately, when they spot such a foul URL.

And again: Do your fact checking and compare at least 3 different Reddit-posts before using a URL for transactions.

God damn it:
Just put a potentially doubtful URL into Google and check the results for warnings.

For a good part the blame is to put on the noobs that confuse the Darknet with Amazon Prime :-(

Agreed!
Even if admins add options to check the address they normally ignore it as they are worried about getting into the account quickly.
It is a combination of Ddos to create panic then allow the site to stand for a few mins at a time and making people not think. This combination creates perfect operator error in newbies who don't realize how tor functions and how the onion sites function.

Dark.fail is not hosted on tor, so it cant be targeted like dread was. That being said, Its very rare for a hosting company to go down for whatever reason. HB has the r/dreadalert subreddit to update people, id say thats your next best bet.

If dark.fail goes down and you dont have links, wait a day or two. There are other ways to save mirror links, to check market links are safe, etc. Use them always, especially if our only trusted source goes down.

My point really was that I wouldn't want a repeat of what happened with DDW. If we had another 1 or 2 resources for DNM links like dark.fail serving as fail safes then that would ensure the DNM keeps ticking along nicely, should one fall.

https://openbazaar.org/

It's been online for years. Have you been living under a rock?

It's a program you download and run on your computer locally which hosts your own store and connects to other nodes over tor.

Yes, I've heard of that. What sort of skills and tech are required to use it properly? let me know if there's a widespread adoption of it.

I'd like to see Empire Forums make a return,
it's an odd omission given all the other DNMs I've checked out have got 'em (and they always seems to be up / working and apparently unmolested by LE cyber-fuckery)

There was just beginning to get a real nice community scene there when it died its mystery death :(

Hope it makes a return at some point!

I really believe that as long there is a demand for something our economic system makes sure that suppliers and customers will find each other.

When Dreammarket ended and wallstreetmarket was taken down I really had no idea where to go to. I didn't know about dark.fail and Dread. And now I have found those by searching trough the normal web with Tor and/or VPN and another browser. If I didn't have VPN I would start up a clean OS where nothing is can and will be saved after restart and use a public wifi service somewhere to search on Twitter and Google or something about the situation. Altrough it will also be explained in the news.

Having it illigal to place links on normally legal website to websites that are illigal is weird but they can't control everything. Like a server in corrupt countries or the most simple page with an internet connection from a prepaid simcard. And there are tools to crack someones wifi code. (Altrough hacking security is getting harder/more difficult while time passes and new better security methods will be used)

The biggest risk I see is that unvallied adresses or adresses with false information are spread to make it hard to find a website that can be trusted.

Finding this place after Dreammarket and WSM was hard because other websites with information often only had old information. Even with links to Silk Road. Also curious if Twitter can reject all tweets with illigal information super fast cause those messages can be ordered when information was posted to have the newest links super fast. I had made myself dependent on DreamMarket.

And at last don't forget the encrypted messenger services that can inform you.
