From day one, I've told everyone to treat it as if it is. There is nothing I can say to prove otherwise and even if it was the case, every single user can use the service safely without putting themselves at any risk. I say it all the time, you are only as safe as your OpSec.

I think it's wise to assume any forum or marketplace could be compromised, and conduct yourself in a way that wouldn't give them any incriminating info if that were the case.

Would it even matter? What infomation would they get that they couldn't already get by just being here, login info?

In an optimistic sense why would it matter ❤

You actually make a lot of sense.

That's strange that /u/HugBunter and /u/Paris don't run their own market or do they =)?

If anyone thinks its strange that we DON'T run a market, or otherwise thinks that we do, then you need a history lesson on me and what I am here for.

I could be mistaken, but I believe they do it because they believe in what is truly rightious/freedom and believe in knowledge and community. What is "illegal" doesn't mean it's wrong per se, and vice versa. Those who have the capability to create a better society in a way, fulfill their so to speak, self-given purpose, by creating something like dread for the greater good. I could get all philisophical and go down a rabbit hole but ya know... :) and please correct me if I'm wrong as well. Life's not all about money, but creating a difference and a better world for the next generation!

You should assume that every onion site is run by a 3 letter agency. You're likely to have better operational security if you do. The only extra information they would get from hosting is access to the conversations, subscriptions and login information. So, as a reminder, **use pgp encryption for sensitive information**.

I feel like if we get technical everything is because the government made tor, so you are right 100% anything sensitive encrypt. Proof vs claims

From my view, the benefits of dread to threat-actors outweigh the benefits LE would get from running dread.

dread is a massive enabler of criminal activity, for it to be run by LEO is such a ridiculous statement to make

There are no crimes committed here it's a criminal free zone.

At least one of the main guys in the Dread team are with Law Enforcement, to think otherwise suggests that you are not very clever.

i think its happened before with markets, where feds make an account and build up its reputation and becomes a high-level position and monitors activity from there. cant think of any specific cases tho.

Possible, but there's a reason the team is small.

It probably is. This site, 4Chan, or any site dealing with crime or subversive thoughts are all honeypots and even if they're not they will be so keep your OPSEC on point.

If Dread is managed by a 3-letter agency, it would be no different than when a particular three letter agency sold weapons for drugs. This testimony is on public record.

Always assume the adversary or opponent is monitoring you. This is not paranoia. This is good self-care OpSec.
