to gold shops? but jewelry , gold bars etc all get in a safe to be examine from its origins, if its in a database of stolen stuff too, only way to clean it and sell it without having background on the gold its to melt it and form a new one.

eastern europe it would be easy to sell it, even if its stolen. A lot of shops that sell gold also buy it, theres official licensed from governments aswell but i wouldnt recommend trying them. Although a problem that you would get a mark-up for it, maybe even less.
