Why you can't log into the market: Canary Expired V3 & Regarding Generating Deposit Addresses : AlphaBay | Torhoo darknet markets

The reason you are now unable to log into the market is because the market built-in canary has expired, which set off a security procedure that has prevented users with 2FA turned on from accessing the market. We take extra precautions and security measures for good reasons, which are intended to keep everyone secure as well as the market.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Additionally, anyone looking to take this chance to propagate false information or FUD will have it removed immediately.

Do I enjoy it? Not really. There are a lot of posts and a lot of support tickets to answer.
Do I wish that I could fix all the problems instantly for everyone? Absolutely.

Does everyone freak the fuck out and spread FUD. Yes.

Does DeSnake login and fix it. Yes.

All we can all do is be patient and wait.

Our market has prioritized security over usability. People do not like that you can not use special characters or do certain things. We have to balance security and usability. Sometimes that means there are interruptions like this.

I personally would rather work on a market that locks itself down entirely in the name of safety, then one that has little to no security and is a risk to the staff, vendors and customers.



As the addresses do not have PGP signed messages accompanying them for verification, which is giving of an error, we advise users not to deposit at this time. As we encourage good security and OpSec, we advise you to wait until this issue is resolved and have your PGP signed deposit addresses.

Due to several reports (/post/ff12bc457bf4d4f337a4) we have received, staff is aware of a captcha problem with deposits as well as direct pay deposit addresses not generating. Withdrawals have been tested and continue to function as usual.

I'll say it again. There are absolutely no problems with withdrawals from the market; they are operating perfectly.

Generating a signed message for your deposit address (same with direct pay orders) is the ONLY problem right now. We apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused and we are aware that as customers, you want to be able to deposit, and we want you to have no trouble using the market.

Your patience is greatly appreciated while we investigate this problem, on which we are currently working and troubleshooting.


Please keep any posts and comments here. I will update this post once the canary has been signed and everything is back to normal. Only those who have 2FA enabled are affected; if it is not enabled, you can log in without any problems. Our I2P alternative and private mirrors are operational with no issues.

Note: If you had funds inside the market, this will not affect it. Withdrawals are also still working perfectly fine!

TLDR; Canary expired, and the security system locked 2FA activated users out. Will be dealt with as soon as possible. Deposits will be resolved as well, and we are working on it; however, deposits are not encouraged at this time.

Due to multiple factors I was not able to reach Dread on a consistent basis hence I have not been active to post.

If you have blank wallet address on your order from before check it again now. As all of you know we use an algorithmic approach to range the required number of wallet addresses every day as one of many layered defenses, on top we have a hardcoded number/ceiling which the program was reaching hence some of you did not get an address as a preventative measure. I have updated that number to be aligned with the current size of the market.

In regards to tempest disputes they will be handled by other mods if needed over the weekend. The moderator has had health issues for a while now which can impact performance on assigned work. So for the time being future disputes/tickets will be spread out between other moderators from the same level. This will ensure all buyers and vendors equally continue to get attentive and quality support.

Multiple big updates coming up in the next weeks including finalization on remaining tickets. Stay tuned.

I was able to order yesterday with no problem, but today my payment didn't go through even though I used the same link I always do, and verified the address before sending. I can't start a ticket as my ticket from the last time this happened to a lot of people is still opened even though I did receive my funds back for that one. Please help, I'm stressing out so bad, and don't see how I could have been phished as I said I used the same address I always do and verified the address. I'm so scared and stressed out.

I can see I got notifications and a new dispute opened but I dont have any way of addressing them so unless all the buyers are keeping up with dread theres going to be a lot of FUD going on about me and other vendors.

What about direct deposits on orders placed a few days ago? Doesn't look like any addresses are being generated for me and the order doesn't time out. I have a ticket open but just checking if there was already a solution out that i might have missed.

I recognize your concerns, but you can have peace of mind knowing that they will all be resolved.

Just recently, DeSnake has been in touch with staff. Just because he isn't publicly commenting or posting on dread doesn't imply he isn't working; believe me, he is and not off the grid as you make it seem. For instance, just the other day, he mitigated the DDoS on the public mirror; do you think the problem just repaired itself? Of course not, thus he is obviously present.

Yes, the Canary has expired, but we are all human, and things happen from time to time. At the end of the day, what happened in this case will be resolved the same way it was before and mostly likely in the next few hours at the most.

He has been working hard to resolve the backlog of unanswered support tickets that are on his plate and he has cleared a high volume of tickets already (I'm sure you can appreciate how many tickets the admin of the biggest darknet market gets), in addition to all the other administrative duties that must be performed on a daily basis to keep the largest market in the world running smoothly.

If you have a ticket with him, it will be in line when he gets to you and you will receive a response there.

This is not Fud. This is fact. Neither your onion nor your i2p address is operational for those of us with 2FA enabled as of 5:30pm EST 10/27/22

Let it be known that I am a customer and big fan of this market but should there not be someone assigned to monitor the canary and there also be a backup so if that person will be unavailable at update time he serves as redundancy?

I do not want to misrepresent myself. I am an AB customer only, not associated with staff, I could not code my way into a bag of potato chips but it seems like allowing a canary to expire someone dropped the ball. Any other issues I can't comment on. It figures this would happen when there is money in my wallet. Hopefully dumb just happened and /u/desnake did not think to give second in command canary update perms.

I am a vendor on here. I go by Lazyplug on AB. Is there any update? I have pending orders that need to be shipped out and I don't want to disappoint customers and mess with my stats.
