I'm lucky enough to have started on the deep web in late 2012 so I've experienced all the markets, or at least decent ones, since the original SR1. Some of these were so user friendly, insanely reliable, the menu was to die for. it truly was a different and golden age so it got me thinking, my personal favourite of ALLLLLLLLL of these options was Dream with special mentions to SR1 and Blackmarket: Reloaded.

The WHM fiasco is the first time I became interested in what this HugBunter user had to say. Good old /r/darknetmarkets over at Reddit. Luckily Hug was hard at work on Dread at this point.

AlphaBay is probably my favorite market. I've been out of the game for about 5 years though, so I'm sure better has come along.

Edit: Realized I'm thinking about a different market but can't remember the name. They were super selective about vendors and only had established teams.

I wanna say SR1, Dream and Archetyp. Those were the longest lasting and easiest to use markets. I was out of the whole DNM scene from like 2018-2023 so could have missed one.

Bohemia's design and UI was fucking fantastic. I'm still bitter that they took such a well made market and torched it with scamming...stupidly at that.

SR1 was cool but the user interface was like old school windows or websites. Still kids with training wheels not knowing how to do UX/UI correctly in the modern day. This persists now with all markets which are hard to use.

Enter: AlphaBay.

You guys, the user interface was the best I have ever seen on the DNMs. That, combined with being the king of markets at the time with literally everyone. They also had a forum section which had just as many active and registered users as Dread. So you got your advice and chat and gossip on the same site as the market.

That's the sheer volume of users they attracted. They were the Google/Microsoft/Apple of the DNMs. Everyone used something from there no matter what they were looking for... you couldn't avoid it.
