Monero, unlike Bitcoin, is anonymous (in theory at least)

Yes it should be safe. Just never send directly to a DNM from Exchange. Always do Exchange -> Wallet -> DNM - Exchange knows where you send it, if DNM get seized LE can correlate.

If the seller told binance that it sent XMR to the one who payed with XRP, they would know that you bought an amount of XMR (because binance, your XRP are tied to your identity). no one would know if you still have this amount or what you did with it.
