Yesterday I exchanced some BTC for XMR on the Cake Wallet. : Monero | Torhoo darknet markets

The exchange went fine. I got my XMR. However, Cake now has full custody of my XMR. It wont let me send it to any other wallet. I know NOW that I have to wait for the Cake wallet to sync to a node. I have fast internet. I have a nice phone. I have been waiting for 7 or 8 HOURS now, even going into my developer options to stop my phone from going to sleep and it just says, "Starting Sync" at the top. All I want... ALL I WANT from someone is to tell me if this is normal. Should it take this long to sync to a node? Or is it REALLY just doing absolutely nothing at all, which is what it really feels like. Im about to go to bed here pretty soon probably and gonna just leave it going all night but I have a feeling its still gonna say, "Starting Sync" in the morning.

Im on Android (Note 9)
Cake Wallet version: 1.0.9
Currently trying node.imonero.org:18081
Was on:xmr-node-usa-east.cakewallet.com:18081 for like hours

The actual Cake support I talked to told me that switching nodes would not start the entire process over which god I hope is true.

Also: I have a machine here with the entire blockchain downloaded onto from a loooong time ago when I tried to mine monero. Basically I have my own node but I have NOOOO clue how I would even start to try to connect to it.

Had the same problem, you need to save the wallet seed and block height. Delete cake app from phone, restart phone, reinstall cake and then you rescan wallet with the seed and blockheight. Also update ur phone if there is an available update

Start your Desktop node with

./monerod --rpc-bind-ip 0.0.0.0 --rpc-bind-port 18089 --restricted-rpc --confirm-external-bind --p2p-bind-port 18080

And open forward ports 18080 and 18089 (tcp) in your router to your desktop mashine.

Now you may connect your cake or monerujo wallet to your own node by typing in your external IP.

Check if your ports are open here: canyouseeme.org
